  • A Professional Solution for My Laminate Flooring
The media could not be loaded. During the pandemic, I found myself with plenty of time on my hands and a strong urge to spruce up my home. I decided to tackle the adventure of replacing my floors, swapping out the carpets for beautiful laminate flooring. However, since it was my first time doing this, the result wasn’t entirely perfect. As the years went by, with constant shifts between cold and heat, the flooring began to "breathe," leading to annoying gaps appearing between the planks. Although these gaps were minor, they looked like gaping chasms on a brand-new floor. Faced with the immense hassle of tearing up half my living room to adjust a couple of planks, I began searching for alternative solutions. I came across a popular YouTube hack involving tape and a block of wood to hammer against, but I was skeptical about sticking random items to my floor. Eventually, I discovered a repair kit from 2026, which is essentially that same YouTube concept elevated to a professional level. It’s an all-in-one tool that spares you from having to cobble together makeshift contraptions. The kit includes a rubber mallet and several reusable adhesive pads, which are key to its success. Initially, I was apprehensive about breaking the device. It looks sturdy, with a highly durable iron body, but doubts lingered. However, I was pleased to find a specific design feature that I really liked: the striking surface is wide and features a felt-padded cushion. This is a brilliant touch, as it not only protects the mallet but also makes the impact quieter and more controlled. Here’s exactly how I used the kit: 1. I stuck one of the five adhesive pads onto the plank I wanted to move. These pads are fantastic because they ensure nothing slips out of place, even on textured finishes. 2. I positioned the high-density rubber suction cup directly over the pad and applied strong suction pressure. 3. Then, without hesitation, I gave it a solid whack with the rubber mallet. I quickly realized that this "tool" is built for heavy-duty work. If you don’t put your weight behind it, the floor won’t budge, but the device can handle whatever you throw at it without flinching. The best part is that the suction is so powerful it doesn’t damage the floor's finish—something I had been quite worried about. When I finished, I closed all the joints and put the kit away in the tool drawer. ... show more

  • Works on my flooring only with the sticky pads
Memxike 2026 Upgraded Floor Gap Fixer Tool with 5PCS Sticky Pads and Rubber Mallet, Dual-Sided Striking Vacuum Suction Plank Gap Repair Kitfor Vinyl, Wood, Laminate Floor This floor gap fixer kit comes with a striking tool, mallet and five sticky pads. The striking tool is a plastic device with a suction cup on the bottom to hold the tool to the floor plank, and striking plates on both ends. The mallet is rather light with rubber and harder plastic heads. The removeable sticky pads are thick with adhesive on both sides. The laminate floor planks in my house have a textured wood-grain texture and the suction attachment function doesn’t work at all. The tool holds to the planks using the pads, but these tend to wear out after several uses. The mallet is rather lightweight, and I used a heavier mallet. It works best with lighter rapid strikes than with hard strikes. ... show more

  • Works Well for Standard or Wide Plank Flooring
Recently, I bought a house with poorly installed laminate flooring. When I asked a handyman friend how I could fix the gaps, he suggested a technique that while it would have closed the gaps, it would have also damaged the floor. This item is the perfect solution in that it doesn’t damage the floor at all. The suction is very strong, as long as the plank is wide enough. If your planks are less than 5 inches wide, it will not work for you. Likewise, if your floor is textured, it will not work without the sticky pads (the instruction manual mentions an anti-slip mat that was not included). I didn’t need to use the included sticky pads. I’m not sure if it was a good idea or not, but I put a drop of glue on the tongue of the plank in the hope that it holds it in place better. Finally, the manual mentions that there is a different product available for narrow planks (less than 5 inches). ... show more

  • Floor Gap Fixer Tool
Decent floor gap tool. I was able to attachthe suction cup to one plank of laminate which is very flat and it stuck really well and I was able to close a small gap with just a couple of taps with the hammer. I then decided to give it a try with a sunken tile on the pull deck. Those are pretty flat and sealed, so the suction cup actually worked there as well and to my surprise, I was able to pull the tile out which was a great result as I was trying to avoid usinng anything sharp that could scratch or damage the tile. I then added a little bit of polymeric sand, put the tile back and it looks like new! It doesn look very sturdy, but in my case it worked perfecty, twice. ... show more

  • Great Kit and Super Value!
The first thing that stood out is the weight and build quality. It has a solid, heavy feel and is made from sturdy, durable materials that don’t feel cheap or flimsy. Tools like this rely on strong suction and controlled force, so having that level of durability really matters for effective repairs. It’s also very easy to use, even if you’re not experienced with flooring repairs. The process is straightforward—attach, tap, and adjust—and it makes a noticeable difference quickly. One of the best parts of this kit is that it comes with everything you need, including the sticky pads and mallet. That makes it incredibly convenient and eliminates the need to buy extra tools, which adds to the overall value. Overall, this is a well-made, effective, and affordable solution for fixing floor gaps. It’s durable, user-friendly, and a great value for the price, especially for DIY home repairs. ... show more

  • Good idea, poor execution
It works, sort of. If you can get the suction to stick, it would likely work better. But - it wont. No vinyl floors are smooth, they all have a 3d pattern. And the suction will not stick to a 3d pattern, obviously. So, you are left with using the sticky pads. For that, I could just get carpet tape, and a 4X4. And, If I used a 4X4, I could hit it with a proper sledge. This tiny hammer did very little. I think I heard the vinyl laughing at me. ... show more
