  • Great for beginners
Color: Deep Black
Although I appreciate how compact this keyboard is, portability wasn't my primary concern. I got it to store it away and bring it out whenever I needed or wanted to use it, setting it up on my desk. Unfortunately, a full-sized piano or keyboard is too large for my living quarters, so I'll have to put this away while it's not in use. For now, its primary use as a midi controller/keyboard has served me well. (For the record, I really can't play the piano. As a midi controller, this is its primary use for me. I have taken a few classes and have some time to practice, but I am by no means proficient) However, in the past I've required the usage of a midi keyboard in order to create music for the many mini-project videos I create. Every time I've needed one, I had to borrow my friends. What I enjoy is how the keys feel. At first, I didn't like the slightly bumpy feel, but now that I've used it a few times, I actually prefer it. And the variety they offer is something I appreciate as well. The resemblance to a standard piano is striking. The speakers produce a listenable volume range and quality sound. The menus and controls can be mastered with minimal effort. The constant reminder to switch to "Bluetooth mode" bothers me. But it's not something I'd "complain" about because it's simply a little nuisance. The quality of the sustain pedal seems a bit cheap. (Again, this isn't a significant concern because the one included in the package will work fine for quite some time, but it is easily upgradable.) The folding mechanism is annoying, and I just don't like it. However, it serves its purpose and operates smoothly. Since I doubt I have a better suggestion for how they could improve the mechanism, I won't dock any points for that either. Once again, it's nothing major, but I felt the need to bring it up nevertheless. ... show more

  • compares very well against other folding pianos; less well against it's non-folding brethren
Color: Black
This is at or near the best of the folding pianos, right now, depending on how exactly you prioritize. It's very much a mix of factors, however., and it's still far from an ideal folding digital piano design. IMHO, it's still a pretty darned good deal at this price point. Firstly, it does fold, thus making this more portable than anything but a rollup. Sans accessories, it's about 11.5 lbs. It's unusually tall for a folding piano; they tend to run about 2.4" (~5" folded), whereas this one runs a surprising 3.8", roughly a whopping 8" folded -- that's enough to make this a bit awkward to manhandle when carrying. (Not to mention, there's a 1/2" knob sticking out on top.) Frankly, I've no idea why this one is so thick, as the electronics are unlikely to be very large. You end up toting around a rectangular case of about 8"x9"x26" -- definitely still portable, but bigger than some competitors. Ultimately, though, this is way more portable than a non-folding keyboard will ever be; for me, this means my 8yo can practice while while we're traveling, and that just wasn't going to happen any other way. (He's already at the level where a miniature keyboard isn't of use.) Second most important, this is more properly a 'keyboard' than a 'digital piano'. The sound quality is definitely not up to that moniker, and the keys aren't quite there either. (Generally, as of time of writing, 'digital pianos' are generally considered to start at about $300 and go WAY up from there, so this isn't a fair comparison... even if they chose to call it that in the listing.) Still, both are 'good enough' to make this practical as a portable practice solution. (Without additional support, though, there's no way anyone would use this for a performance.) Regarding the sound quality, in the sense of sounding like a real piano (or any of the other included instruments), this keyboard has a pretty modest digital instrument model. It has a pretty good number of polyphonic notes, to be fair, but no one is going to mistake this for a performance-grade instrument. The sound quality is decent enough over headphones; not fancy, but adequate. The integrated speakers, however, are very much worse. They are pretty loud, but distort significantly enough that the main piano sound over those speakers sounds like a cheap keyboard for very small kids. (Many phone apps have better sound effects.) Some of the other instruments are slightly less painful, but none can be considered good this way. (This is pretty much typical for the folding market, alas.) It's a real sore spot, to be honest, and probably the weakest link here. The speakers are also oriented to fire away from the pianist, as if for use in a performance, making them overly loud for everyone but the performer. In my opinion, this is a very poor arrangement, as this can never make it as a performance device; they've just optimized for the wrong thing. The keys themselves are pretty decent for this cheap a device. It's got a matte, knurled texture to the keys. It's of course not the pinnacle of digital piano keys, but it really is pretty decent. Keys are slightly undersized at 0.8", versus a typical piano, but not so that any but the most proficient player would ever notice. For a practice keyboard, I'd give this a pretty darned good rating so far. That appraisal drops slightly, as the semi-weighted they promised is really not in evidence, and the keys seem to be able to detect only two states, light/full key press, with no real velocity to speak of. This keyboard just can't reflect any subtle shades of force, and struggles even to distinguish staccato. (Again, pretty much all of the folding keyboards are in this range.) Key force is on the higher end of the normal range (keys are on the 'heavier' side), but that's very much a matter of preference. Some of the keys are a bit loud on the return, though not loud enough to bother you with the volume on (but a bit more noticeable to others if you are wearing headphones). Connectivity is laudable; there's MIDI out, mic and audio inputs, bluetooth for both audio and MIDI. It's a pretty good assortment and a strong point for the product. It's more than some $1500 keyboards offer. I'm not convinced I have a handle on how bluetooth support works here; I was slightly annoyed that you have to engage bluetooth audio out to get bluetooth MIDI, which means that to connect my iPad MIDI, all sounds was routed to the iPad's little speakers, which wasn't a great experience. Then again, the next time I tried it I got the reverse experience of iPad sound being routed to the piano's speakers. <shrug> The again, if you are using this as a MIDI keyboard input to a laptop with better simulated instruments, you aren't going to be inconvenienced either way. Miscellaneous: It's packed VERY well when shipped. There's an onboard battery, so it can play unplugged; seems to last pretty long. The case is pretty good. A music stand is included, but it's extremely annoying as it is canted correctly and won't hold pages without a clip (one is included); even so, it's not big enough for two pages side-by-side, and the way it's designed makes clipping two pages nigh impossible. A standard simple sustain pedal is included, a nice bonus. Overall construction is pretty sturdy for this price point. The control system largely requires you to hold down a button forcefully while rotating the knob -- not great for little hands, nor convenient for any hands really. Stickers with notes are included, to label keys for beginners. Simple headphones are included as well. That's quite possibly more detail than any of you wanted. Overall, this is a usable portable piano for practice, but not really much for use in performance. It compares well against other folding pianos, but less well against non-folding keyboards. It's not really in the price range to meaningfully compare to a proper 'digital piano'. Not a perfect solution, but until one of the big league keyboard makers makes a folding keyboard, this may be as good as it gets. ... show more

  • Great for beginners
Color: Black
This is a great portable compact piano for beginners first starting off. Its also great for experienced players looking for portability. The semi-weight keys do have a weighted feel to it similar to my authentic piano. Comes with a fabric carry bag. I do wish it was a hardcase for better protection. It comes with lots of various accessories. MIDI functions works great and easy to setup. ... show more

I took piano lessons as a child but ended up teaching myself how to play the guitar, got hooked on it and barely played the piano. It’s been almost a decade since I have touched a piano or a keyboard, so you don’t know how stoked I am to have my hands on this. Overall I think it’s great. It feels like I’m playing an actual piano and its sound quality isn’t the best but it’s not horrible. I’m not comparing it to any other keyboard because the one I previously had is well over 20 years old at this point + doesn’t have the capability of folding. I just can’t get over how much space it saves me. I’ve been wanting a keyboard for years but real estate is tight in here and I couldn’t figure out exactly where to put it. With this, I just play it on my kitchen counter or dining table. It can be played anywhere! My kids are learning and I’m happy they enjoy playing with it even if it’s not always music to my ears ... show more

  • Very cool

My child really enjoys this foldable piano. Its sound quality is similar to that of a desktop piano, and each keyboard is very tactile. I like its foldable design, which doesn't take up too much space. It also comes with a storage bag, which is very convenient for both home and home. It can be connected to a smartphone or tablet, which can stimulate the fun of learning the piano. There are many different styles in the piano, making it enjoyable for children, Let us always enjoy the joy brought by music. ... show more
