Long story short if you want to use a case worth a damn to protect your phone this won't charge your phone through it. Here is my experience Running on a Samsung J7 and it works but I put it first under my battery cover and even without a case on it wouldn't charge and my charger is rated to charge a distance up to 10mm. So I took it out of WHERE IT SHOULD BE and put it on the outside of the battery cover between my phone and my case, still didn't work until I took the 1mm thick plastic cover off the silicone inside case. I had a different Qi receiver for my iPhone 6s Plus. It worked well enough for about a year and suddenly stopped working. I bought this one to replace it and it isn’t as finicky as my other one was about receiving a connection. You plug it in and use the tiny sticker to glue it to the back of your phone. I put my Otterbox case (Symmetry) back on and it charges fine through the case with all of my 5 Qi chargers. I’d buy it again. Update: I did buy it again. I made sure it was the same thing and bought one for a gift. They both work flawlessly. the trick is to make sure the coiled part stays put on the back of the phone. If the little sticker thing doesn't hold, just tack the gold part to the phone with a small piece of scotch tape on the corner. The instructions say not to remove the thing once installed. If you do need to remove it, slide a credit card under the coiled part to dislodge the tape. You don't want to bend the coil. ... show more

    • An less than perfect work-around

This is an imperfect solution for devices without native wireless charging support. You have to put the coil piece right at the center to work and even when it works, I found the charging is not very fast and it gets pretty hot. The coil also adds some thickness to your device and it causes your case to bulge out. Also you are using the lightning port for this so you lose the option to plug in your EarPods. That said it does work. Don’t expect the performance to be like that of the iPhone X though. UPDATE: After one day, it stopped working :( My charging dock indicator says it's charging and I left it charging over night and still 19% Really wanted this to work but I guess I'll just have to plug my iPhone 7 Plus in. ... show more

    • My phone was Hijacked with Malware
I'm not sure if I'm the only one that has experienced this issue but I feel that it needs to be said. I purchased this in September and my phone was HIJACKED with Malware. Hours after I plugged it in my phone would do random acts such as call the house phone from my cell phone when it was sitting right beside me, untouched. Scroll through the Internet when it's sitting right beside me, untouched. Also, call other people in my contact, go into my settings and change them, trying to shut off my pass code and try to download apps from the Google App Store. This went on for about 3 days before I figured out what what going on. Both myself and my son witnessed the changes taking place on my phone while plugged into the QI receiver while on the charging dock. The moment that I unplugged the receiver it stopped. Then I set my phone back to factory settings to make sure that no Malware remained undetected. ... show more

Received this Qi receiver charger product and installed it on back of Samsung Galaxy J7 with protective cover. It appears to charge up fast with Amazon Pleson wireless charger unit*. Would give this a 5-star ... this Qi receiver needs extra self adhesive around gold foil holding inside coils. It came with a tiny strip of self adhesive which one peels to stick to back of phone. But it doesn't stick well on phone with smooth surfaces even after cleaning the surface clean with light alcohol solution to remove dirt & oil. Ended adding extra 2-sided stick tapes to hold the gold foil in place before putting phone protective cover on. * The Pleson wireless charger uses Samsung Galaxy J7 power adapter that comes with phone. Qi product works and it fast charges the phone. ... show more

Works well, but when you add a metal plate for a magnetic mount you have to be careful where you mount the plate, some spots block the signal , others cause it to heat up (A LOT!) I found that the best spot for both charging and heat is high over the apple logo thing the big round hole with an apple emblem in it. For those of you that want to know I have an otter box commuter on the phone and it worked really well without the plate. I had a similar charger on my Samsung s5 with a Otter Box defender (no metal plate) and it was really hard to find the sweet spot that would allow it to charge. ... show more
