This 20 inch table top fire mat works great, it is a great size also, we had this under one of our table top fire pits on a metal patio table and you could not feel the heat coming through the bottom of the mat or table and those table top fire pits get very hot, I would say this works great and looks great and provides a good protection layer to your tables, it is a great value to protect yourself and possessions, highly recommend

This item isn't terribly thick but I believe it will protect from embers flying around on the ground if you're using a small emergency stove or grill. In retrospect I'd get something a little bit bigger just to be sure but this will do the job for the immediate area around where you're cooking or have a fire.

I have a small tabletop charcoal grill that I usually put on a cookie sheet, but I haven't been satisfied using it that way - the metal is a bit slippery, and it transfers heat from a dropped coal pretty well and can leave a scorch mark.
