My expensive hobby is adopting and fostering busted old cats, so alas, I can't afford a boat. I bought this to use on the shelves, perches, and ramps inside cat enclosures (both indoor and outdoor) because I needed something that would provide improved footing for mobility-impaired cats, but with a softer surface than the usual scratchy green plastic "turf" I use in front of the litter boxes to catch stray bits of litter. This does the trick. It's easy to cut to size; is heavy enough to lay flat and stay in place; the low nap vacuums easily; the nap is not looped so the cats won't claw it to death; and it will stand up to regular cleaning (scrubbing with detergent and blasting it with a hose in the driveway), sanitizing (with Rescue, a peroxide-based veterinary cleaner), and drying in the sun. Oh—and it comes in real colors, that are not gray, black or beige! (Yes, this was the final deciding factor.) I chose the teal, and it's a nice color, not too bright, not too subdued, and leaning a little more toward the bluish side. If you really want to know what it looks like, go to that big-box DIY store with the orange logo, and look at the color chips for their bear-branded paint; the color "Thai Teal" is an almost exact match. It's obviously good quality and was worth the extra cost; if you're not chucking all your spare money away on crusty old cats and actually plan to use it in a boat, it'll look pretty darn spiffy. ... show more

Excellent quality carpet, packaged compactly, arrived 5 days earlier than expected. Upon rollout on my pontoon deck I only saw a few small wrinkles that smoothed out under the sun in a day. The size is perfect. The color of clear and uniform. Also, the instructions are well-written, detailed and often humorous. I highly recommend this product. Have a 15' something boat got 15' roll of carpet had plenty left over. Nice quality very happy. Night and day difference. I'm a carpenter so more experience then most with materials and measuring but it can turn out nice with patience. I did over the course of 10 days helps with tedious projects like this that you want to turn out nice. Youtube is amazing would buy again. Update faded really bad with in a year ... show more

Beautiful Super Soft Boat Carpet! I am thrilled at the quality of the carpet! Its a good thick carpet not your cheap indoor out door carpet you normally see. It came rolled up and folded in half. But I unrolled it and let it sit in the sun for a hour or so, and all the wrinkles fell right out. It did NOT come with the carpet knife it said it would. Carpet quality is excellent! Installed easily. Remember to change blades every couple cuts. And for all you people who feel Black Carpet is hot... Its no hotter then any other color. I live in Florida and heat is a factor. But never had a problem with hot carpet. That is the reason I went with black again. Btw my wife installed the carpet... her boat is 16ft and it took 2 buckets of the glue. She went with water safe stuff because shes a tree hugger. I shared a before & after photo. Nothing looks better then fresh carpet! She did a nice refresh on her boat.. So easy a girl can do it! Couldn't be happier with the quality and we will be repeat customers!! ... show more

    • Just Installed, Seems OK, But......

Installed this on my pontoon. It's a medium grain carpet, seems ok, time will tell. Pros - As stated, initial reaction is it's a nice carpet (I hope). Negatives - 1) Due to the fact that the carpet is folded in half, there is a very noticeable fold mark through the middle of the carpet. I'm guessing it's stored that way in their warehouse. There are also many other wrinkles. These could not be rubbed out during the installation process. Hopefully, foot traffic will take care of this, but that's not a certainty. A lot of this could have been eliminated by storing and shipping in an 8-1/2 ft roll as opposed to folding it in half. 2) The instructions were for a bass boat, therefore they were useless to me. I guess they think only bass boat owners use this. 3) It is not cut perfectly square, use caution. ... show more
