Bottom Line Up Front: The wood I received looks like pieces of scrap walnut salvaged from another DIY project. They are not terrible, but definitely don't measure up to the marketing hype. Product is advertised as "premium quality" with "accurate size ... with a thickness of 7/8 inch (22mm)" and with a "smooth surface". * The actual thickness (as measured with an accurate caliper) is 0.836 inches, not 0.875 inches. (In metric, the actual thickness is 21.2mm, compared to the advertised thickness of 22mm.) Admittedly, these differences could be considered small, but when a product is marketed as having accurate size, small differences matter. * The actual length is about 8.25 inches. Longer than spec is better than shorter, but again, it's not accurate. * Both pieces are warped to some degree. One piece wobbles up and down on one corner about 1/32 inch when placed on a flat reference surface. The other piece has a tiny wobble, just barely detectable. Fortunately, I only need one piece for my project, and I can work around the slight wobble of the better piece, otherwise I would be returning this product as defective -- not meeting advertised specs. * Both pieces have small surface defects on at least one main surface -- dents and scrapes that are up to 1/32 inch deep and 1/4 inch across. I don't have a planer to get rid of those dings, but fortunately my project does not require a "finished" look, otherwise I would be returning the product. Why 2 stars instead of only 1? Well, for me this wood hovers at the "meh" -- not quite a total disaster and usable for some purposes. But at $15 it's WAY overpriced. If I were not on a tight deadline, I'd return this wood for a refund. ... show more
