My new hp laptop backlit keyboard is light gray and almost impossible to see any characters in any light, unless in the dark with the the keyboard backlight on! I don't know why they didn't make the keyboard area black. Well this cover does exactly that! Now I can see everything. I don't really use the backlight, so I haven't really checked to see if the light shines through the cover. (If you use your backlight, you can always use the clear cover that comes with it if you want.) The cover is soft to the touch and fits so well that I easily forget it is even there. The best part is now I'm protected from accidental spills, even mini ones like a drop of water.

this would be a great cover if it fit better. it is off just enough to stop it from laying down correctly on the keyboard. I use it anyway because its better than nothing but wish it was a better fit.
