I fell in love with this 2-in-1 chess and checkers set. The wooden board thickness is a half inch on each side and folds out beautifully with the chess and checker pieces tucked between felt cutouts. I appreciate the design of both the board and the storage underneath the board. The pieces are made of natural wooden grain and have felt on the bottom of each piece to prevent the board from being scratched when moved. The chess pieces are the only magnetic pieces, which is genius because I worried about knocking into the board and losing my thought-out moves (not that I know yet). But with this magnetic hold, I feel less worried about leaving the board out in the open. I’m looking forward to a very slow game. This game set is a perfect gift for everyone and a delight to add to the family game shelf. ... show more

This chess/checkers set is wonderful. Every piece has a nice slot to put it in so they aren't lost and the magnetic chess pieces are a huge bonus! I was tired of the box falling apart on our previous set and pieces falling out! A friend had a similar set so I had to look it up and find one for our family! Love it. Great set for kids. However, with the extra queens left in their storage spots, the board does not sit flat. And the magnets are very week. Can not turn board upside-down, they dont stay in place.
