Pretty flimsy. The lock on it the light have already quit working and the clipper sides does not give a clean cut after just 3 times of use. I have only used it on dogs under 20 pounds these definitely would not work on my great dane's nails.

I know it says Dog nail clippers, but they show a picture of a cat and a dog, so I figured it was just a quirk of naming. WRONG. The clippers are too big for a cat's nails. I'm sure they work good on a dog's thicker nails, but it shattered the one nail on my cat that I tried it on.

As a professional dog groomer, I've cut hundreds, if not thousands, of dog nails in my multi-decade career, but none have given me as much trouble as my Doberman's. She has the thickest, toughest nails I've ever had to trim, so she's the standard by which I judge every pair of nail clippers I test. When I saw this clipper/grinder combo, I hoped it would help make nail trims a little easier, since I don't have to switch between 2 separate tools. While I think the idea is pretty good, I don't think they got it quite right. Honestly I should probably rate these lower due to all the flaws, but they are sharp and sturdy, so I'm giving them 4. -Pros- • The blades are sharp enough to get through my Doberman's nails, and the metal is thick and sturdy so it should hold the edge for quite a while. • The housing is durable enough not to break under the pressure of squeezing. • It has a light, which is very helpful in locating the quick. • It is very quiet while grinding. • They're rechargeable via USB C -Cons- • They lock shut, and you squeeze to open them, but they pop open way too easily. Squeeze to open would be great normally, but because they're also a grinder, you need to hold it while it's shut to grind (it's easier that way) and it keeps popping open while you're trying to work. • The light isn't positioned the best. It's slightly blocked by the blade. Not the biggest issue, but I have several other clippers that have a perfectly positioned light. • It doesn't open wide enough to cut thick nails on large dogs. I can really only get the tips of my Dobie's nails in. It's definitely better suited for small or medium dogs. • They're a little slippery, they could use a bit more texture or some silicone for grip. • That plastic piece that companies keep putting behind the blade. I think it's supposed to catch clipped nails, but not only does it not work (nails can easily fall out) it's just in the way. It keeps larger nails from getting through the already narrow opening. I'm glad it can fold down out of the way, but it's just unnecessary. • The grinding head doesn't seem to be replaceable, so once it goes dull it's useless. • The holes in the grinding cover aren't big enough for large dog nails, so it's a good thing the guard can come off. With a few tweaks these could be great, and they're not completely unusable as they are. Like I said, I should probably rate them lower, but finding clippers that can actually get through my Doberman's nails is rare. They deserve the extra points for being so sharp.
