I recently purchased the 2.4lb Mix Horticultural Lava Rock Pebbles, and while they are decent, I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the size. There were more small shards than I expected, which wasn't ideal. The nutrient claims didn't really matter to me, as I primarily got them for my cacti and succulents. Despite the size and shards, these lava rock pebbles seem to be working well for my plants. They provide good drainage and aeration, which is essential for the health of my plants' roots. I also appreciate that they don't retain too much moisture, preventing overwatering issues. If you're on a budget and looking for an affordable option, these lava rock pebbles might be worth considering. These tiny rocks are in a range of colors and are fairly lightweight. This is a small portion suitable for adding to small planters or as garden decoration in a small area. For the tiny succulent garden in my photo this was perfect. I rinsed the stones before using, which is a good idea because they have some dirt and soil on them. For this reason, I don't think they would be suitable for fish tank use. Some of the smaller rocks are extra sharp, and so they should be used with caution so that you don't cut yourself on them and oh gosh don't drop any where you might be walking without shoes on. They have an enhanced color when damp and they of course drain well, making them perfect for a topping for a plant or to add to planting medium for cacti or succulents, or for train sets or fairy gardens if they are being mostly handled by an adult. These are beautiful for some specific uses and not all that versatile for crafting or fish tanks. ... show more
