  • Fantastic crucibles
Size: Number 4
I have bought the #8,#6,and #4 from this company and I am totally satisfied with their products. Each one has the pouring spout made into the crucible. These have lasted a long time in my aluminum foundry. I will buy from them again. If your starting out with a aluminum foundry and this is your first purchase, I would recommend the #6 for aluminum which is the middle one in my picture. The 4 is to the left and the 8 is to the right. ... show more

  • Great products but you need to know
Size: Number 1
This crucible is exactly as i expected, ive seen a few reviews that mention cracking or leaking and id like to take a minute to help a few people out. Two things, first and foremost graphite crucibles are very susceptible to thermal shock. Second you should use a borax solution on it the moment you get it. The borax makes a very thin layer of a glass like material that will help stop liquid metals from leaking and will give it a mild "self healing" if a crack does appear. ... show more

  • Quality product and fanstastic customer service
Size: Number 4
I received my crucible in a timely manor as promised. When i first used it it cracked and broke. I was under the impression it did not need to be pre heated so i put it directly in the smelter. When i let them know this they immeditely offered to send me another. I received the second one in just 3 days. This time it had a notice on the box to preheat at 400 degrees for an hour. I did this and just got done with my first fire and it worked perfectly it looks like i will get several fires from this crucible. I will absolutely use them again they have quality products and stand behind them without hesitation. ... show more

  • Perfect fit for aluminum cans.
Size: Number 3
This thing works great. I bought it for melting 12oz aluminum cans and it fits them perfect. Prior to this I was using 14.1oz empty steel propane tanks cut in half for crucibles, and was only getting about three pours before they would get a hole melted in the steel. I've used this about 4 times so far and shows little signs of wear. Perfect size for a small foundry and aluminum cans. ... show more

  • Perfect for my Mini Metal Foundry!!!
Size: Number 3
The media could not be loaded. Mini Metal Foundry crucible. I bought this for Grant Thompson's 'Mini-Metal Foundry'. It fits perfect!. I have been melting holes into my stainless steel homemade crucibles and this is a serious upgrade. Note for shipping: this is not on Prime, but I ordered it Monday night and it arrived Thursday morning... fabulous! Pour spout: I have seen negative reviews about the dimple for pouring, or lack there of... mine came with a perfect pouring dimple in it... check out my pics. Size: I did not use the expensive plastic containers Grant had listed to build the interior of the foundry. I bought similar sized ones from the dollar store... WIN!!! Same with the containers to form the lid. You just have to understand the basic principle of how much space you need and then purchase a container that will suffice. I even found the stainless steel dish scrubbers (for added structural integrity... you need it) at the Dollar store. All that to say, I have just a hair more space on the inside of my foundry than Grant does, therefore, this crucible fits perfectly and I can get charcoal all around it. I'm not sure how tight it would be If I had bought the expensive blue buckets he had listed. I also purchased a little container from the Dollar store to act as the feeding hole in the lid... saves the time of having to cut one with the hole saw, and it's a lot less messy... check out my pics. If you have any questions, give me a shout, I have built 2 of these guys and had great success. Make sure you pre heat it a lot... I fired up the Foundry and kept the heat low... did this 3 times. ... show more

  • No groove for pouring spout. Read for info about preparing
Size: Number 3
There was no groove for pouring, so I carved one out with a file. But anyways. I left four stars because it can be fixed at home. And remember before you put it in the foundry, put it in the oven at 300 degrees for about an hour to get rid of any moisture, then put the crucible in your furnace and heat it up so the crucible is glowing red. Keep it that way for 30 min to an hour. Turn off the heat source and leave the crucible in the foundry, letting it cool as slowly as possible. Wait for about 2-4 hours, and there you go. And before each firing, i suggest you put your crucible in the oven at 300 degrees for about an hour to get rid of any moisture so it doesn't explode. You don't have to do this, but for you and who or whatever might be around's safety, please do this. ... show more

  • Lasts far longer then my 4kg crucibles!
Size: Number 4
I melt copper into aluminum bronze with this. i've put it through a lot of stress with propane blasting almost directly at it. it has gone through several sessions and has almost doubled the lifespan my 4kg crucibles were lasting. plus the pouring spout has come in handy several times. i will be purchasing again when it does eventually break! ... show more

  • Tough, and affordable.
Size: Number 3
it is a really good crucible and is tough as all get out. We have dropped it and hit it against things and have done about 20 pours so far. I couldn't be happier. Love it. I built my own furnace for casting aluminum. I also concocted a crucible, not just one but 7. And every one of them failed, including the ones i made out of steel pipe fittings. I finally decided to break down and buy one and this thing is awesome. You should see the smile on my face as i melt aluminum cans and remove the slag. ... show more
