  • DECENT FOR THE PRICE POINT - WOULD BUY AGAIN - SOME HELPFUL TIPS
Style: 10"(500w)
I wanted to own this for a little bit before reviewing - Overall, decent scooter for the price point. I'm ~180lbs.....I have not been able to get the advertised 17 miles on a full charge, even on level ground, at speed setting 1. However, you can get decent travel time out of it - maybe 12-13 miles depending on how you ride it. It is really easy to assemble - basically just screw on the top part for the handle bars and you're done. It folds down really easy; the square lever on the left side of the handle bar clips to the hook on the rear tire guard to make sure it stays folded. YOU WILL need to adjust the brakes. If you don't have one, buy a bicycle tool. Adjust brakes upon assembly. It's not hard, but may take a bit to get just right. Out of the box, mine were super tight and scraping the disc, tapping the brake and it was almost instant stop, enough to throw you over the handle bars at speed. Start riding slowly and check the brakes, gradually increase speed and try again. If you hear a scraping sound while riding, if the brakes seem over aggressive - they're too tight. If it takes forever to stop, they're too loose. There is a nut clamping the silver brake wire. Loosen the nut - pull the wire to increase braking, slide it back to decrease braking. Tighten the nut to hold wire in place (at the proper setting). Once you think you have them set, try to go down a slope, and ensure the brakes will allow a quick, but gradual stop (yes, contrary to some of the reviews, if YOU set the brakes correctly you can do gradual braking); adjust as needed and make sure the bolt holding the silver wire is tight, or the vibration can cause it to loosen (causing a loss of brakes). Many of the reviews complain about the brakes - while the manual isn't the greatest, even the manual recommends adjusting the brakes. Spend the time to get them right, and #1 it's a safer ride #2 it's a more pleasant experience. No need to use an app to ride, turn on, and push off. Instructions weren't clear, but the scooter is really easy to use: Press button to turn "ON." Press again = speed setting 2 (~15mph max) Press again = speed setting 3 (~20mph max) Press again = back to 1 (~10mph max). (the display will show you the setting - if for some reason you turned it "ON" and it started in a diff setting) Press the button twice quickly = headlight "ON" Press the button twice quickly again = headlight "OFF." Expect to lose speed/power uphill. Steeper slopes - it's an e-scooter, expect it to struggle. Overall, it seems sturdy. Tires are fairly rugged; not the greatest in grass. I was able to take it through gravel/loose dirt; not as great as on asphalt, but doable. If the manufacturer reads these - one recommendation for future models: a way to hold/grab the scooter so you could "walk" it on one wheel when folded. This way you wouldn't have to carry it when getting on a subway etc, but could have it folded to take up less space, and easy to maneuver. For now, I just grab it by the rear wheel and "walk" it on the front wheel. ... show more

  • Sturdy and fun
I've had this scooter for 6 months. The parking lot for my job is almost a half mile away from the building, so I got this to get back and forth. I have put approximately 120 miles on it so far. I keep it in my trunk when I'm not using it. Now that it's starting to get cold, I might have to keep it indoors as it seemed not so happy running near freezing temps. I'm definitely pushing the weight limit, but it doesn't seem to have a problem with the load. It has peppy acceleration and feels fast when you're riding - very fun! At first I didn't trust the brake, but have had to stop quickly a few times and it seems to work reasonably well. The ride is fairly bumpy as the tires are solid, but I got used to it quickly. The only time it's a problem is when I have a headache! I have only ever gone into the app a couple of times. There are a few settings you can change there, as well as a lock to prevent anyone else from turning it on. You don't need the app to ride. As far as battery life, I charge it about once a week while I'm at work but I usually have a couple of bars left. If the battery dies, it's kind of a pain. While you can ride it manually, it's pretty heavy and sluggish and frankly you might as well just walk it at that point. I can't comment on how far you can go on a charge because I've only used it for short distances. It's light enough to easily get into your trunk, but too heavy to carry around conveniently. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. It's been fun and reliable and I've had no problems with it so far. ... show more

  • 19mph Is Actually FAST! (1 Hour Video Review)
Style: 10"(500w)
The media could not be loaded. EDIT: Video added. 1 HOUR long so it had to be compressed a LOT for Amazon to accept it. First scooter. Enjoying it! Goes very fast! I thought 17mph would be slow (as it feels in a car) but it’s not at all when out on a scooter. BUY A HELMET AND GLOVES! I couldn’t see anything in the manual on how to turn on the headlight but I figured that out myself. Also could not see anything about the app in the manual. I Google searched and eventually found it myself. Also the wires that you have to put into the handlebar stem when assembling were difficult to get in. I was worried I’d crimp or cut them. I wish it was a bit easier to drop the extra cable into the stem. But I got that too eventually. Just a scary first minute. And at least that's all you have to do to get going. Without any experience with any other scooter at all I have nothing to compare this too but I really love it so far! I’ve been around my block a couple times. Breaks I need to learn. They’re way more solid and immediate when going fast. When going slow the breaks feel more mushy. Not sure how/why that is. (EDIT: when first pulling on the hand break lever, you activate the electronic break which seems to cut the speed down by about half, immediately. The rest of the distance you pull the hand break, you are using the regular physical break so if it feels mushy, you can tighten that.) The charger gets hot after 3 hours of charging and I hear a weird high pitched frequency from the brick. Once it's done charging, the light on the brick goes green, the sound stops and it cools off. Seems to take about 1 hour for every 10-15% of charge. I rode for about 1hr which included two very steep hills (one was so steep the scooter slowed to just 2mph, I had to get off and walk it up). I stayed between 9-12mph generally, lots of stop and go through many streets, many turns. Some smooth roads, some bumpy. Lots of variety during my 1 hour. By the end, the battery was at 26%. I rode again that night from the 26% and it began slowing down even on flat roads becoming unusable at 21% (one bar on the handlebar display) it just crawled, below 2mph. I'm sure you can ride for longer than an hour without those steep hills, it did seem like I was losing battery much faster when on those portions of my ride. But still, 1 full HOUR of riding! This is great for a leisurely ride, errands, visiting someone a neighborhood over, and yes to go to and from work if you live near by. I'm a bit disappointed that I jumped on this purchase on Black Friday thinking I was getting a deal for $370 but now thats the standard price and there's a coupon for $70 off! I understand prices change but I feel a bit cheated. It's common knowledge you're supposed to get deals on black Friday that you don't get any other time. And then right after that, the price drops by almost a 3rd?! ... show more
