  • Very strong. A bit tricky to use.
I bought these because on some applications (my Jeep for example), a regular zip tie will get brittle and fail over time, and I wanted something more permanent. - Very strong. Just one of these will replace a couple of regular zip ties. - You will need tools to manipulate these (recommended). - They are about 13" long, and you get a bunch of them. There are a couple things that you should know before buying these. > First, you can cinch them down very easily using Needle nose pliers, and grabbing, rolling in a circle. > You will need wire cutters, or something like metal shears to cut off the excess cable. > The excess cable left over, should be bent down and backwards afterwards. I write this because the metal left over from trimming the excess off will be razor sharp, and if you happen to graze it with your hand or arm at some time in the future, then you could do some real damage very easily. If you look at the pics I included, see how I folded the ends back under (using Needle nose pliers), which takes the sharp edge away, and less likely to cause damage in the future. These are Fantastic zip ties. I will buy more of these in the future. It is a well made product, and I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Best used with a tensioning tool
This review is for 198LB Tensile Strength Black Heavy Duty Metal Zip Ties,UV Resistant 304 Stainless Steel Cable Ties, for Chain Link Fence Parts, Poultry Fence Outdoor fixed,Exhaust Wrap.11.8 Inch, 100 Pack. Brand: KTDSFA These are great if you have the tensioning / cutting tool for stainless steel ties. If you don't, they can still be used but sometimes they won't fully grip without the wrenching so you may need to use a couple of pairs of pliers to pull the end away from the locking mechanism. Also be sure that the locking mechanism is on a flat or slightly rounded surface (like a pipe) - if they make too tight of a bend (like on the corner of a square or rectangular tube), then they can fail. Besides being a lot stronger, they don't get ruined by UV/sunlight like the nylon ties will after a few months. And for critical things like keeping wiring away from a drive shaft or fan, metal zip ties are a much better choice. ... show more

  • Love the steel, hate the feed
I love the strength and durability of these zip ties - great for outdoor use where the plastic ones crack & break under weather, UV, and just general windy conditions. These hold fast. Not great on things that aren't cylindrical, but I use for round fence posts and T-posts and so far, no complaints. That said - feeding the strap into the clasp can be a challenge. If you don't get it perfectly straight on, it won't feed through. I use these to fix cattle panel to posts, and sometimes I'm on the ground trying to blindly feed it & wishing they work as easily as the plastic zip ties. They do hold, but are one-time use - don't try to unzip & rezip them. ... show more

  • sleek and strong
This is the first time I've used metal zip ties and I'm amazed at how sleek and strong they are. I haven't had them outside long enough to see how they handle to a full season of rain, but, at immediate use, they hold tight and do not slip backwards - even though there are no "teeth" for the clasp to hold onto. Somehow - the tension is held very smoothly and without teeth. Something to note: If you're wrapping around a square shape or a shape that's more oblong than circular, the zip tie doesn't really conform perfectly to the surface shape. These seem to want to stay in a circle shape as much as possible, so just plan on tiny gaps between the zip tie and the bar, rail, or tube, if you're wrapping around square tubes. But round posts - this looks absolutely seamless when fastened around the round shape. ... show more

  • Strong, easy to use. Did not find them to be reusable.
These zip ties held well, and were easy enough to trim with my wire cutters. They are epoxy coated and stainless steel, so good for outdoor use in setting where nylon ties might not be strong enough. They have an infinite number of positions, rather than being limited to the number of ridges as with nylon ties. Because of the stiffness of the stainless steel, they are not well suited to hold the contours of irregularly shaped items, and the buckle prevents its use for bundling small diameter objects. I found them not to be reusable - the method I found online for removing them nondestructively led to them slipping on subsequent uses. For their intended usage, I recommend them highly. ... show more

  • Strong & versatile ties.
I go through quite a few zip-ties around my house each year and got these to replenish some other metal zip ties I had been using. These zip-ties are on par with other ones I've bought in the past and work just fine in my application. I don't have any complaints about them and would recommend them to others. ... show more

  • Some didn’t hold. Possibly user error?
The metal ties cost multiples more than plastic ones and I honestly prefer plastic zip ties. Compared to plastic these are much more rigid. That was expected. What wasn’t expected was how difficult they are to use. I had trouble getting them to engage and once “zipped” there were some that slipped. Maybe I am doing something wrong but a zip tie that doesn’t hold isn’t very useful. ... show more

  • Strong, heavy duty STAINLESS STEEL ZIP TIES
We always have zip ties with us, on the bike, in the truck, with the trailer. Mainly we have plastic, but these stainless steel zip ties will be better when we may need them (we’ve had to use zip ties to reattach our trailers’ license plate, fenders AND lights on road trips). We never really want to need them on road trips, but we always seem to. These self-locking zip ties are easy to use and only need to snip off the excess ties. They are already packed in the truck and ready to go! ... show more
