  • Seems to work, once I wired it up
I got the 16" fan to go on my 1927 Model T Depot Hack. Of course, it has a Chevy V8 engine to cool with a fairly small radiator. This fan just barely fit with the flat parts of the shroud at the top and bottom. I've used the pull-through mounts before, so that was not big deal. Now, a few points. The in-water temperature senders are famous for failing. First, to install it in an intake manifold on a hot rod, you may need to remove a plug. Mine came out pretty easy. Just hope that you put in a brass plug, and not a stainless one. The instructions say not to use teflon tape or sealant on the threads of the temperature sensor. The fear, of course, is that they will insulate the sensor from the manifold. The temp sensor is a "normally open" temperature sensitive switch. When it get to a pre-set temp, it closes and completes the ground for the relay. If it doesn't close, the fan won't come on. My advice is to leave the bottom two or three threads clear and use tape on the upper threads. It looks like I may have to drain my coolant, remove the sensor, and follow my own advice. It looks like I may have a small leak. So, a little electrical theory here. The idea of a relay is to act as a switch for a heavier load. You have the heavier power lead coming directly from some source like the battery, and the trigger power lead coming from a switched ignition source. The ignition source doesn't have to be very heavy, since all it operates in the relay is a little magnetic switch. The relay then needs a ground so that it has a complete circuit to operated the magnetic switch. The black wire from this relay is a ground, and it goes to the temperature sensor. The white wire is the ignition power. The red wire is the heavy power, which will actually run the fan. The blue wire connects to the blue wire on the fan. The black wire on the fan connects to a ground. Wired this way, the fan is ready to run as soon as you start your car, but the relay doesn't send it power until the sensor gets hot enough to ground the relay. When you turn off the ignition, the fan will quit running. I was surprised to see that there was not an actual connector for the fan included in the kit. You have to attach the proper terminals on the wires and connect them in the fan connection. ... show more

  • Loud
Works good. Replaced mechanical fan on jeep wrangler. 4.0 engine. Gave it more power, picked up about 1 MPG. People have actually asked if I have a supercharger on my jeep. It's not too noticeable in the vehicle with the doors shut( I have a hardtop). But outside the vehicle, you can hear it 50 ft away. And it's really noticeable when you cut the engine off and the fan keeps turning for about 45 seconds. ... show more

  • Works perfectly with Sniper EFI
Installed on a 1967 mercury cougar SBF Pushing approximately 2800 CFM, (I would recommend running a pusher and puller for maximum cooling) The 16" fan fit perfectly on my 20inch 4core radiator. a great durable electric fan, Although I would definitely upgrade the relay (which feels low quality). I hooked it up to work in sync with my Holley Sniper EFI and can control the operating temperature (Output 1 & 2) without the use of the equipment everyone is complaining about. So over all, im impressed with the quality vs the price paid. Definitely cools a-lot better than my old mechanical fan. NOTE: In order to convert it from a pusher-puller. Unscrew the fan and flip it. Then flip the fan connectors. It doesn't come with instructions. ... show more

  • 175-185 Degree Thermostat Relay Switch in kit was no good
I disliked the fact that finally getting my truck going only to find out the 175-185 Degree Thermostat Relay Switch that came with the fan was faulty. I though maybe I wired the relay wrong or something but after thoroughly going over it nope it was wired correctly. So now I am stuck reordering a new 175-185 Degree Thermostat Relay Switch. The price would have been great but now adding about $10 more and the waiting for a new switch ruined the great price. What I did like about the kit was the fan seems to blow pretty hard. It had all the small connectors and plenty of length of wire coming off the fan. I might try this kit again if I need one later. I am pretty sure the bad switch was probably a fluke. I did remove one star though for the trouble and added cost the bad switch has caused. ... show more

  • Should come with directions
The instructions are pitiful; as in none existent! Oh! Sure, there are partial install pics in the description, but seriously? Just include them with the product, written in English. Even though wiring pics are shown shoddily in the description, there is absolutely no mention of actually mounting the fan to the core of the radiator, ac condenser or other cooling device. So I am posting this picture to illustrate where the mounting hardware goes and in what order. ... show more

  • Past my expectations and keeps my mild built SBC nice and cool
I got this for my 84 C10 with a mild built SBC and with AC to keep the temps down especially here in south Texas during the summer months. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a fan that I'm not going to run much longer for I am changing engine setup later this year. Install is super super easy and all the wiring is there, pre-set coolant temp switch and relay as well as a circuit breaker...not an inline fuse...but a circuit breaker. The wire is heavy guage for all the 12v feeds plus heavy guage grounds unlike other kits in the price range that gives you cheap made wiring. This kits has the better made wiring, relay ,circuit breaker, temperature switch and fan itself along with the hardware plus it's not a noisy fan which is a plus. It has kept my cooling system right at 190° will creap to 200° only when I'm in the throttle for a long period of time. Other than that it stays at 190 with AC going in the summer heat down here in South Texas ... show more

  • Great value but missing instructions…
Great value but missing a ton of instructions. I would pay to see how the seller installs one of these on my car as demo! (I ended up buying a $17 light-switch set from local supplier as this kit didn’t kick in no matter what I did. I have a toggle switch to manually turn it on and off which is very inconvenient… ... show more
