This set is very nice for the price. The pieces are not perfection and beautiful craftsmanship like a handmade set you'd pay a lot more for but for a family board game its perfect! The only negative is there isn't a lid/cover for the pieces that you aren't going to use so when you open it up you have to remove the chess pieces AND the checkers in order to flip the board over and play. Not a deal breaker by any means but a mesh cover or some sort of containment for the pieces would be nice for the ones you aren't using. Doesn't really bother us as we leave this board out in our family area, set up ready to play most of the time and just put the checkers in a ziploc. ... show more

The only thing I don't like about this set are the pieces. Plastic and lightweight..tip over easy. It's a nice folding box though and is sturdy enough with a nice smooth coating.. So it deserves 5 ⭐️. I would recommend it.

Good chess/checkers set. The pieces are just the right weight, giving them stability on the board, and they're not too heavy. The sponge on the inside of the board seems sturdy for now and I think it should be able to keep the pieces secure for many years to come.
