  • It does not perform as described
I bought the gloves because they mention being good for certain temperatures protection in a question. On my first use, I sustain second degree burns on 2 fingers right though the gloves within the first second. I was melting lead so temperature was below those of copper, silver and gold. DO NOT BUY! ... show more

  • Great, just not dog-proof
I bought these gloves back in December 2015 and they have worked great until my puppy decided to chew the finger of the glove in half. (It's a wonder they aren't shredded) It was my fault for leaving them outside, not the products. But anyways, these gloves are great at keeping heat back for a short while, but if its hot enough, some of the heat travels through the gloves and you'll feel it and know to stop for a second. But these gloves are amazing. I have ordered a new pair and will be using them soon. ... show more

  • Left glove is great. Right glove is strange
The gloves are heat resistant and that is what I bought them for. The left glove is great. Moves easily and protects my hand. The right glove feels like it has an "extra layer" inside it. Very stiff so it is hard to use. And the ring finger has a hole inside the liner that allows my finger to poke thru into the inner part of the glove. They protect my hands so I will use them. I had hoped the quality control would be better than this. ... show more

  • Good for welding maybe, but not good for smelting.
These gloves cannot take the heat from a smelting furnace. Mine dried out and split on the fingertips in about 40 minutes. Now after 2 hours of wear they are ruined. Fingers burned and split. No good for smelting. They were not thick enough nor long enough either. Definitely looking for gloves with reflective protection now. Straight leather will not cut it. ... show more

  • Good for the money, not a long term or repetitive use item
The gloves singe and shrink when exposed to moderately high temps. Don't really shield very well and burn easily. If you buy these, expect to need a new pair after a few uses. The index and middle finger on my right glove are shrunk very badly and almost to the point of exposing my fingers. High temps discolor my finger tips with limited exposure. I've gotten a couple of burns through these when handling objects for very very short times. ... show more

  • Not comfortable, but handle high heat
So far, these are the best for direct flame and/or heat gloves (for low price) that I have found after burning through about 10 different types, both online and at retail outlets. These are made in Pakistan and are not very comfortable, fairly tight for medium to large hands. I have now worn out 4 pairs of these in severe duty high heat environment and they hold up pretty well. Obviously, there are gloves +$80 that will outperform, but for $16.99 + tax, good value. ... show more

  • Good for cooking and tending a fire, Bad for mini metal foundry work.
Decided to actually update this review a bit more honestly: I've been using these gloves on my foundry for a while, and these gloves are really not meant for what the title of this listing implies If you're buying these because grant thompson sent you here, I'd really recommend trying to find something more thermally insulated because there is a moderate chance of these gloves burning at the temperatures you will melt aluminium at, and they malfunction more often when reaching the kinds of temperatures brass can melt at ... show more

  • Horrible, but in a good way
I have to admit, I feel a bit like Dr. Horrible every time I put these on, but that's just for appearance. Functionally, I got them for use with a foundry, but I find myself using them as standard safety gloves for using my welder, angle grinder, and other tools that can cause dangerous cast offs. They fit well enough that I lose very little control, even for fine tasks. ... show more
