  • Good set of snap caps for checking the ejection mechanism
I recently pulled out my old but never fired 12GA semi-automatic Beretta shotgun. This piece is more of a collector's item to me. It occurred to me I never tested how it functions in regard to ejecting the spent shells. As I mentioned I wanted to keep it new and back then (30+ years ago) I did not see anything looking like a snap cap in the gun shops. When accidentally ran into this set on Amazon I recalled I wanted something like this for dry firing and testing the ejection of "spent" shells. The shotgun has the 6 shells tube magazine plus 1 in the chamber. So I got this set. And boy, it was a pleasure to see that after each "shot" (starting with the chambered shell), cycling the bolt handle did eject the "used" snap cap and loaded the next one from the magazine. It was well worth for me to have this set of snap caps. Not only I verified the action on my semi-automatic Beretta but now I can use the caps for drills with my pump action shotgun as well. ... show more

  • Good for shotgun handling drills
Length is not a match for the shells I use for actual shooting, but these are close enough for loading, handling, and tactical drills. Especially good for in home drills where you would not want to be shooting for real.

  • Ideal safe option for teaching firearms handling
Previously ove only ever had 1 "snap cap" practice round for each of my firearms, but this makes it hard to really properly teach the technique to loading a weapon safely. This set now allows me to teach my wife and family how to properly load my shotgun in complete safety where a pinched finger is the only "threat". Having a weapon is useless if the potential users can't wield it. You'd be crazy not to have this if you're not the only person who will be using your firearm. Shoot, even I could benefit from some practice to increase my speed and smoothness of loading especially because I just added shell loops to my stock that I haven't practiced with. ... show more

  • Great training aid!!
These are great if you are trying to speed up your performance loading your shotty. I have used them to practice loading in the dark. I also use them as a safe way for my kids to learn how to load and unload without the possibility of a negligent discharge. The only nit picky thing I can find is their color. Other sets I have are bright blue making it easy to distinguish them from an errant real round somehow making its way into the practice dummies. A competent shooter should never let that happen but competent shooters are not infallible either. ... show more

  • Good for it's purpose
It's good for it's purpose but probably not the best practice to run around the house firing off the shotgun. Probably not a huge issue for gun enthusiasts that know the difference but wouldn't recommend for the novice.

  • They work, but aren't the nicest quality option
I have several different types of snap caps, and these one aren't the best quality. They scratch pretty easily (not a huge deal). The only issue I have with them is that they're really light weight and slightly smaller than the actual shells of this size. It's still great to practice safe handling and quad loading, but I stick to my other snap caps if I want a better feel for the real thing. ... show more

  • Great dummy shells
These shotgun dummy shells are pretty solid. I was a bit surprised at first since the set includes nine shells instead of ten, which felt like an odd number (no pun intended), but had to double check the listing to make sure I was not shorted one. Partially because it was 2 bags with 4 and then 1 free floating shell in the little box. They’ve been great for practicing reloads and safely dry firing. They have a weight that feels similar to real shotgun shells and they cycle through smoothly with no issues. I don’t think you would confuse these for real shells in a pinch but do wish they had some neon orange just as a reminder these are dummy rounds. Overall, if you’re looking for dummy rounds to practice with, these are a great option. ... show more

  • Snap caps
These work like any other snap caps but they fit a 12ga shotgun. Pretty nice and great for testing the trigger pull or action function without dry firing.
