I purchased 2 boxes of these: Very satisfied with this product! Great quality at a good price. Each piece is a true 11 inches with evenly spaced 5/8” diameter rubber feet on the back with good solid adhesion. Other slate products have excessive flaky edges that fall off-these do not. These edges were stable and no slate flakes were in packaging. There is no chalkiness, stains or weird variation in the color, they look good and clean. The thickness varies with each one but each piece is mostly uniform thickness with nice tops for engravers. Even the thinnest ones are solid. Each piece comes shrink wrapped and is in a bubble wrap bag and all securely boxed in decent cardboard. The three pieces of soapstone pencils are sharpened and 3 1/4 inches long and are in a small bubble wrap bag. 1 package all pencils were good, the other had 1 piece broken- no issue for me. I have a box of extras in my shop. —I decorate these in various ways and gift or donate to good causes. Everyone loves them! The only improvement the company could make is adding 1 piece of soapstone for each platter in case one divides the set and perhaps adding a piece of cardboard to the soapstone bag. —Overall this is an outstanding product, will buy again. I have bought a lot of slate products and this seller is my favorite so far, with good consistent quality throughout multiple slate products. ... show more

We bought a new table and got the first time ever looked into getting placemats. Our last table had marks from hot plates and bowls that we wanted to avoid on our nice new table. Looking for a nice slate piece for my bearded dragons basking spots, when I came across these. The price was great. The size exactly what I needed and an added bonus of getting twice the amount I needed (I like having spare things). These are working perfectly! When I first took one out, I noticed the edges were sharp. It’s a common thing with slate and very easily fixed with a bit of sand paper and a few minutes effort. Then I noticed the little feet on the bottom. Not what I was expecting, but left them in place and they aren’t any bother. The benefits of using slate for beardies are the darker color absorbs and maintains heat very well, so those reptile tummies get warmed evenly along with their backs. The slate is a natural way to wear down their claws, meaning less need to suffer the anxiety of clipping those tiny little claws. Very easy to clean and sanitize. Then the size is perfect and allows each of my beardies to fully stretch out without any parts of their bodies hanging or on a different level. My girl is in the pic and she’s fully grown and of a healthy size. Just about all of the basking platforms built for beardies are stepped or have a very small top, leaving most of their body to hang off. Both of my beardies seem to enjoy their slate basking platforms, and when beardies are happy, I’m happy. ... show more

My daughter has a smaller version of this and at Thanksgiving it didn't hold enough items. I have a laser engraver and used it to customize this much larger slate for her. The engraving came out fantastic and this is a good medium to engrave on. In order to use this product with food, you must use food grade mineral oil and rub it in.
