We used the included dyes and bags. This a great all inclusive option for a quick kids activity. Our 4yo loves mixing the dyes to make new colors. We didn't use a separate egg dying kit so I don't know if that would work.

I was reading through the reviews and wasn't able to get a good feel for how these eggs interacted with other dyes besides what the kit comes with. I had a "science experiment" dye kit this year that involved putting eggs in a glass cylinder with the dye and some baking soda and then dumping vinegar into it. The eggs floated very easily because they're hollow, but we learned to hold them down with a wooden spoon and they dyed perfectly fine with vibrant colors just like real eggs would. These are like real eggs! Got them to color for Easter, cause real eggs have to get tossed after sitting on display out of fridge. These can stay out and color just like real eggs. I actually ordered 3 more dozen for next year incase I couldn’t find them.

    • Dangerous!!
I would give it zero stars if possible. Do not buy! Kids were able to squeeze eggs and they shattered! Eggs are some type of plastic that must be defective. Cannot believe that a 4 year old was able to shatter egg into pieces by just squeezing! I tossed them out!!
