  • Catches on fire.
The boarder catches fire very easily and the rest of the blanket catches fire and not self extinguishing. Caused smoke damage to my walkin cooler I was brazing.

  • Came in 2 days, should work well.
Will use as I solder an old copper water line repair.

  • Catches fire awful fumes
Soldering copper pipe. The mat burns and releases awful fumes. Using basic propane torch.

  • Does NOT catch on fire.
I ordered this fire retardant cloth for an upcoming plumbing project. I have never used an item like this before so I wanted to test it before using my torch near wooden wall studs. I took it into my garage and hit it a few times with the torch. At first, I just hit it in passing glances with the flame, as I expect that's how it will likely be used. It did put off a few wafts of smoke but did not catch on fire. I then focused the flame for around 5-6 seconds at specific areas and noticed slightly larger wafts of smoke, but it still did not catch on fire. In the areas where I focused the flame, I saw that the material developed a dull gray color, but checked to see that it was still fully intact. I have no reservations about using this in my home. I WOULD however advise, based on the smoke, to ventilate the area well during use. You probably don't want to inhale the bit of smoke that comes from this cloth. ... show more

  • One use
This doesn't act as a proper heat shield/ blanket. It is not thick enough to prevent damage. And the cut area is literally just cut to the center hole. There is no seam or sewing to prevent the cut from catching fire rather easily as it is always fraying. It melts more than burns, but regardless, it did not take much for the area to catch. This is a one time use or minimal use item. ... show more
