  • Awesome!!
Man this thing is BIG! My previous biggest mold was an 80 oz. A full aluminum bar is 0.8 lbs. Using this new hog of a mold a full bar is 1.7 lbs......more than twice the weight. Now THESE are bars. Can't wait to do copper in them. That's going to be a heavy bar. A little bumpy on the inside so I spent a lot of time with sand paper and a Dremel to smooth out the high spots and to get the paint off of it. Your first pour will make the bar all black from the paint. After sanding I made the mistake of rinsing it out with water to get all the powder out and it rusty some. Will now have to sand that out. Best to just wipe it out. All that said, this mold is awesome!! ... show more

  • Ingot
Not really sure what to write but i really like this item. Ive mostly melted lead in it. Or poured lead into it rather. Did some aluminum as well. It gets hot when full of liquid metal ofcpurse but has held up to multiple pourings. Ive made a dozen ingots and its just as fine as when i first got it. Obviously you gotta be careful with it so you dont break it but its a good item ... show more

  • Works great Works great
Works well so far but it did have a thick coat of paint on the item that immediately caught fire upon first use. Don’t know if the paint is on there as a protective film until you use it but it was shocking at first to see it flame up. Used it for cooper , brass and aluminum so far. Yet to find 100 oz of gold To try that ! Ha ha ha ... show more

  • Bought one last year and was pleased - for a while.
Dropped my original rating on the first mold because a hole burnt through the bottom. Not sure if it was a product flaw, so I reordered these two new molds of the same size. Keeping my fingers crossed that these new molds work well.

  • Works Well if You Preheat Before Pour
Sturdy and will not degrade like graphite molds. Also tapered so that the ingot slides out relatively easy. However, you should use an spray agent that allows easy separation.

  • Solid workhorse of an Ingot
Great size for a 4-5kg melting crucible. Started off using the non-stick spray that was recommended, but if you heat it up with the exhaust from the foundry, the ingots will drop right out without the spray when I pour copper, brass and aluminum.

  • This base of the mold failed after second use.
A chunk of the mold broke off and stuck to my ingot. It literally fused to the top of my second ingot when it dropped out of the mold. I took a closer look and it seems the base of the mold I received was incredibly thin for some reason. The walls of the mold seem nice and thick, but the base seems to about as thick as a U.S. nickel. Amazon refunded my purchase, but still, it was a let down to see the mold fail after only the second pour. Others seem to have no problem and cast many ingots, so I may have just received a random defective product. Good luck I guess. ... show more
