Super easy to install!! Love that you don’t have to replace batteries. The bright light that flashes every 30 seconds or so was a surprise I wish I had known about. Also doesn’t beep very loud when it goes off.

What I like about this smoke alarm is that you can turn OFF the alarm button even while the alarm is still flashing red as a smoke warning. My other smoke alarms I have to wave a towel in front of them to clear the air so they will shut off. This one has an off “button” right on the bottom of the front so the annoying sound can be turned off while you do something about the source of the smoke. All my “fires” have been while cooking, and it was just a little smoke, but the alarms would go off. I gave this one four stars instead of five for two reasons. Firstly, I can’t check the sensitivity of the CO sensor. There is a check button on the unit, but that is checking for the alarm to go off and the light to flash, not at what level of CO the unit will detect it. Secondly, when testing the smoke alarm feature, we puffed quite a bit of smoke over it before it actually went off. We are beekeepers and we lit our smoker to test the unit outside. We puffed smoke over it 4 or 5 times before the alarm actually sounded. I got this unit to put in my camper since our CO detector no longer works, and I figure having a smoke alarm in there is also a good thing. (Most CO detectors in RV’s go bad after 5 yrs, so if yours is over 5 yrs old you will want to replace it.) Also read the directions. The unit has stamped on it that a red light flashes for alarm, yellow is a fault (change battery) and green means the unit is on. At first we thought it wasn’t working but the flash is only about once a minute, and it’s very quick so you have to watch for it. The batteries come with the unit, 3 AA’s and it claims three years battery life. Since I have to change the batteries in my other smoke alarms about every 6 mos to a year, I’m not sure if I believe the battery life, but only time will tell. The other thing to be aware of is that the directions say that the unit will only work if the back plate is attached to it. It comes with a back plate for mounting, and I’m not sure why that makes a difference, but if you are testing the unit without the backplate, it won’t work properly. I think this is a good unit for the price, since it detects both CO and smoke and since you can turn off the loud alarm from the front of the unit and it is still working, it doesn’t turn off the detector, just the annoying noise.
