I've already tried this bit twice and it's by no means a cheap bit...however, the tip breaks too easily. I was engraving into maple at a very slow rate and it broke twice. Maybe it's time to go with Amana or another higher end bit. Its very frustrating.

    • Great for detail work.
I use this instead of 60 or 90 degree bits for detail work. It’s holding up nicely so far. In vectric I was able to add it as a custom V bit using the size, angle, and flutes, then it calculated the feeds and speeds for me. I love the results so far so I’m going to get a backup just in case! Long carve time due to its dimensions, but I can’t complain about the results. ... show more

    • Starts Sharp, but Short Lifespan
After reading the other reviews, I was very gentle on this bit with my CNC. Despite going easy on the feeds and speeds, this has already lost it's tip and smooth cutting edge. This might work on soft wood for a while, but I'd rather buy an expensive bit once every year, than this bit once every two months. ... show more

    • Nice sharp engraver, but not necessarily for wood
I was looking for a steep angle CNC cutter for cutting molding profiles, and this did work and is still working for me. However, the tip is so sharp it does not take a lot to break off the tip as it did on me. Even with a 1/32" of the tip missing, it still works in wood, perhaps with a less clean result, but it works. ... show more

I tried to use this bit to carve at a depth of 0.03" and the tip broke off IMMEDIATELY. Garbage bit, don't waste your money.

I bought this for sign making. It is precisely milled, very sharp and it holds the edge - goes through wood like a knife through hot butter ;)

Used with my router, able to cut free hand with only a short way in to cut a path. Then used that to track the line. Used quite a bit and went through a lot of maple. Bought a second one for backup, did not need it.

    • Fine Engraving on Walnut...Beautiful
So far so good. I'm very pleased with this bit. I engraved a sign with 5mm deep raised text and art so tried this bit to finish around all the raised art and text. Great result. Will buy again.
