I wouldn’t buy another leash again. There’s no weird stretch and it’s sturdy and great to walk your dog on. I buy the 6 footer and tie 3 knots in 3 different spots to hold onto when walking my dog and it works great when I want a tighter or looser hold on my pup. Highly recommend this leash!

The first model was a dud. The attachment mechanism is basically two parts - the hook (or the lobster claw) and the spring-loaded gate. Well, the model as pictured here has a very faulty design. It's basically a design oversight compounded by bad manufacturing. The "gate" has a lot of sideways play. Ideally, it should only move in one plane - open or close. But it also moves sideways! And our dog managed to get the collar D-ring out of it several times. It got to a point where she figured out, with a combination of forward pull, sideways jerk, and a sudden backward pull, she could spring free 8 times out of 10! So I wrote ZippyPaws a very angry email. I love my dog, and I equally love others' dogs. I do have a hunting hound, and she can do some serious damage to small dogs. I blasted ZippyPaws for this faulty design. I didn't expect anything, I thought I'd wasted my money on a crap product. I was going to send the leash back to Amazon as "defective", which it really is. To my surprise, Zippy wrote back to me, admitted that they've become aware of this flaw, and they've redesigned the entire mechanism. They offered to send me a replacement. The faulty units are out there, and I imagine a leash company, unlike auto manufacturers, can't really do a nation-wide recall. I received a red replacement (black, my original color, would've taken longer). They have redesigned the attachment mechanism. Now, the gate is INSIDE the hook/lobster claw, instead of being mounted with a pin on the outside. I'll add before and after pictures to this review, so it's easier to follow what I'm referring to. Mounting the gate inside the hook precludes the possibility of any sideways play. I do wish that ZippyPaws had used a one-piece cast hook/claw, though. It's welded metal. But, all in all, I am very happy with the replacement and Zippy's responsive and courteous customer service. Admitting their mistake and wanting to do right by their customers, goes a long way with me. I would recommend this product, but with a word of caution. It's possible you may receive one of the older, faulty models. In that case, write to Zippy, provide proof of purchase, and ask them to send you a replacement. PS: I still use the bad leash from time to time, but I bypassed the attachment mechanism. I inserted a climbing-rated carabiner in the swivel mechanism area (just fits) and I clip the carabiner to the collar's D-ring.

I ordered 2 over 1 year and a half ago and they are still holding up! I have an over 100lb dog and a 74lb dog. Perfect! Also good to go in the washer if they get dirty.

Learned about this leash while watching a friend's dog. Immediately purchased one and love it! Very nice thickness, secure clip and wrist loop. At no time do I fear this leash will break and my dog will run loose. Edit: Clasp on leash is VERY heavy. My Daughter was taking it off and it swung and hit my dog. Be careful to hold onto the clasp when taking off. I reduced my review by 1 star

Our latest family member has chewed through two mountain leashes since we adopted her last November. We bought two of these leashes just in case she continued this pattern. It has been a month since we attached one of these leashes to her collar and it is still intact! It is a thicker leash than the previous mountain leashes we have owned and holds up well when our dog is pulling hard. The hardware latch is good quality also. The colors of the collars are vibrant also. We bought a purple one and a black one. I have not tried washing the leash, however, it has survived getting very wet twice due to our walking the dog in the rain. Update: It is now two months since we purchased these leashes and the purple leash is still intact. (We have not needed to use the black one yet.) It has gotten wet numerous times due to the Florida rainstorms and the colors are holding true. Ms Power Chewer has tried to chew the leash at least four times and it shows no marks.

I ordered this leash because I had a 55lb puppy that was seriously struggling with leash manners when anyone came near us. Regular leashes were tearing up my hands as I tried to keep him from running to play with every person we saw. This leash does not do that. It’s also thicker and I feel like I have a sturdier hold on him. It held up well even with him constantly biting it, and made puppy training classes much easier.
