However, based on my experience with several previous kayak covers, there are a few consistent observations. Firstly, these covers tend to have a lifespan of approximately one year, regardless of their price range (from $20 to $120). Secondly, the straps often fail after limited use, typically at the seam where they are attached to the cover, rendering them ineffective. There I have a 13 ft kayak. Normally it spends the cooler part of the year covered with a blue tarp I got at a local big box store. So I ordered the 13 ft kayak cover. The cover fits very loosely. I measured it at just under 16 feet. It's fairly heavy material. Waterproof (resistant?) layer, just more of a fitted loose tarp than a fitted 13 ft. cover. This protects my 15' kayak very well. It's made with a very durable material that can withstand a flying debris or other objects when in storage. It's stitched very well, and the straps are very solid when snapping and adjusting the length for the beam. I'd spray a UV coating on the outside just for added protection as well as a waterproofing spray on the inside. I just got a new kayak and didn't want the sun beating down on it all day. This 12 ft. cover fit my 11.5 ft. kayak perfectly. The straps for holding the cover to the kayak worked well, and the bungees on the end helped tighten things up too.
