If you're looking for perfect replacements for the glass tubes that come with the API aquarium test kit, these are it. I got these after two of my API tubes shattered on me from shaking them or closing the tops too hard. In comparison, these... - Are plastic, so they withstand more abuse. - Are slightly wider, enough that the tip of the test bottles can fit into the tube. This makes adding the drops much easier and makes the bottles more stable when upright. - Have twist tops rather than snap-on tops, so you don't put a ton of pressure on the bottles as you continuously remove the top and put it back on. These are absolutely better than the tubes that come with the test kit in every way.

4/26/2024: I bought these a while ago, when I broke all of my API Freshwater Master Test Kit glass tubes. I'll have you know I am in HS so I am younger with not much money to spare. I know I am clumsy, and any new glass tubes will break on me eventually, so I specifically bought plastic ones (this product) with a screw on cap so I don't have to worry about accidentally breaking the glass tube when putting on the cap — they seemed flimsy okay?! Don't judge, who knows what a HS girl is capable of 💪😅 Anyways, compared to the API test tubes, these are slightly bigger and taller. The quality is definitely great or decent, and the mLs are labeled clearly enough. They are true to their word, 10mL – used a pipette to check just in case. You will have extras in case you lose or misplace one, or maybe even stain them eventually with the API chemicals! Or you can use them as a side project, or measuring thing. Definitely recommend for clumsy people, or to replace test tubes, or to have fun! It's your money, do whatever you want!

I ordered these test tubes for water quality testing. The API kit only comes with four. Having more test tubes allows me to perform testing on multiple tanks. They work pretty well. My only complaint is that liquid can get trapped underneath the seal in the cap, which makes it hard to clean them thoroughly.

I have a small fish tank, and needed some extra vials to test my water parameters in. I landed on these based on reviews and research. The are easy to read, they are sturdy enough that I've stepped on two of them and they haven't broken. Huge plus is capacity! They hold enough water to shake together all your test chemicals and know you are mixing them well. The lids screw on tight, good seal, and the vials can stand on their own which means they are easy to use. I also use one for carrying my morning medications in and it works great to slip into a pocket if I go out to breakfast. I have also rescued baby shrimp from being trapped in water I am changing from my tank with these!

I got a new toy which uses a pair off CR1/3N batteries, but claim to only run for about an hour. So carrying extra batteries seems in order. Those batteries are fairly small, and the distance between the plus and minus terminals is very little. So carrying a bunch loose is not an option. These appeared to be around the right size for those batteries, so I gave them a try. And they worked quite well. They easily held 3 pairs of the batteries, which should be adequate for most circumstances. The inner diameter is slightly bigger than the batteries and the length is slightly longer than a stack of 6 batteries, but it is close, and they don't rattle much. If it becomes a problem, a sheet of paper around the batteries and a bit of cardboard under the cap should fix it. They appear to be durable, and the lid attaches just right. The flat bottom means it stands on it's own, but the height compared to diameter means it is easy to knock over. I only needed one for the batteries, but I'm sure I'll find uses for the rest.

I purchased these as general sample containers and extras to have around for my API test kit like others. They are fine as specimen or sample containers, however the volume markings are not accurate at all. I've verified with multiple pipettes and class A lab glass. Picked one from the batch as an example: pipette = 1.00mL, marking = ~1.25mL. Pipette = 3.50mL, marking = 4.0mL. Pipette = 5.00mL, marking = ~6.1mL. You get the picture. They don't leak, they work fine, just don't expect to use them for any type of accurate measurement.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for! I am extremely clumsy and broke all of my api test tubes that came with my test kit so I knew I needed something more sturdier. I have dropped these from the counter top, stepped on them, dropped stuff on them and they haven’t cracked or even budge! It holds over 5ml & the cap screws on it does not just stick on like the api tubes WHICH I LOVE! So I can aggressively shake the tube And no water will come out. Needless to say I LOVE these tubes and will recommend them any day OVER API glass tubes!
