    • Great for Jitsu!
I bought these for Jiu Jitsu. I have them in my garage on a concrete floor. They are great quality and have Velcro to attach them together at the sides. I’m truly not sure what people have to complain about here. We’ve been doing takedowns and throws on the pads and they seem to cushion the fall very effectively. I didn’t find the construction cheap at all. The Velcro is pretty hardcore. In fact sometimes It’s difficult to pry it off itself. I’ve had these for a few months now and I’m pretty satisfied. I mean, I would imagine a relative majority of people are using these for martial arts of some sort. If you need everything to be soft and gentle maybe you’ve chosen the wrong sport. ... show more

    • Sturdy and durable!
I purchased this mat for my 2 boys (10 and 8) who recently began taking gymnastics lessons. My boys were enjoying the lessons and wanting to practice their handstands and cartwheels at home. I used to be a gymnast as a child so I had an idea of the quality of mat I was looking for--after doing an internet search (I live in a small town and this type of mat is not available locally), I found this particular mat. It is getting use on a daily basis, either for practicing gymnastics or for some impromptu wrestling. It is holding up well under their activities, and I have even tried a few things on it myself! It does have the ability to velcro to additional mats either along the side or end-to-end, and I am considering purchasing a second mat to give us even more tumbling space length-wise. The only kicker on the whole deal is the shipping cost--but after all my searching, the price on this mat plus the shipping cost was as good as I could find. I am happy with this product and do recommend it. I think another review had previously talked about an odor--it may have had a slight odor when it arrived but I don't detect a trace of it now (a couple months later). ... show more

    • Perfect for our little gymnast
My daughter had been begging for a gymnastics mat for months, so we finally broke down and bought one for her as a gift. She LOVES it. she says that it helps her in so many ways. It is not as slippery as the rug, and much softer then the floor. she is only 9 and is fairly new at gymnastics, but I can see how much better she has gotten since we have the mat. She is not afraid of landing too hard anymore. This mat has no smell at all with it, which I have read can be an issue with other mats. The velar around the edges allow you to connect more mats to any side which is a nice feature. Of course we haven't connected any other mats, so our velcro is getting carpet stuff in it, which I guess can not really be helped. Overall very pleased with this purchase! ... show more

Use this for stretching and yoga. Supportive yet gentle on the body. Cleans easily, easy to unfold and refold. Have seen some complaints in reviews about odor. This was a worry as I am very sensitive to chemical odors, get sick, headaches, etc., but this had a very light chemical odor that was only detectible after the first day when you are essentially face to the mat and that was either gone or so innocuous as to no longer notice it after the first week. I have it down on carpet, which I worried about (started putting duct tape on the hook/catch half of the velcro strips because I just assumed it was going to be problem) until I got a good look and saw that the soft part of the velcro faces down and the hook/catch part you wouldn't want on your carpet faces up. ... show more

My daughter absolutely loves this mat! As soon as I put it on the grass she was able to do tumbling that she had never done before. The mat is very thick which gives her more confidence because she knows that if she falls the mat will save her. I am very happy with the mat I haven't noticed any strong odors like some people were describing in their reviews. The mat also arrived earlier then expected which suprised me and my daughter. This is not the first product I have ordered from Z athletic, we ordered the floor beam as well which was also very high quality. It is also pretty light, my daughter is able to carry it. I really reccomend this mat for any level gymnast who wants to work on their tumbling at home. ... show more
