  • Great Little Bread Recipe Book
I'm totally impressed with this little bread recipe book. I'm an average baker and was searching for some simple, no-frills recipes on baking bread easily and affordably. The author discusses substitutions, yeasts and types of flours that can be used to get wonderful, homemade loaves of fresh bread. She also provides information on how to freeze the bread dough for make ahead options. The Everyday Standby White Bread recipe can also be used to make pizza crusts, dinner rolls, cheesy garlic bread sticks, garlic knots, sandwich/hamburger rolls, cinnamon buns and bread bowls. Easy Peasy! Recipes also include favorites like honey wheat bread, Amish white bread, golden egg bread, rye bread, old fashioned potato bread, rustic Italian, French and multigrain. All the recipes in this book use instant yeast or rapid rise yeast, even bread machine yeast, which is basically the same as the first two mentioned and this is to save time. The recipes are also based on using a stand mixer which I'm sure that hand mixing or kneading could still be used to achieve the same results, just more time consuming and work. There aren't any glossy, color photos of bread in this book but I don't need them, I'm experienced enough to know what finished bread should look like. Overall, I'm very happy with this book and would definitely recommend it Additionally, I ordered The Big Book of Bread and Everyday Bread and just from skimming through them, this little book, Your Daily Homemade Bread, was probably all I really needed to make simple loaves of bread on a regular basis. ... show more

  • Wonderful book with easy to follow recipes
Just got a upgraded stand mixer and have been putting it to work with the recipes in this book. They are easy, delicious and quick. Have done basic white, Amish white, French, rustic Italian, and cinnamon raisin. All can be done in less than two hours. Why buy bread at the store when you can bake fresh this easily and quickly? She includes a lot of useful tips for success as well. Can’t beat the price either. Give it a try! ... show more

  • Great Multi-Grain Bread
From a publishing standpoint: This recipe book feels self-published if not somewhat dated, such as the typeface on the cover, and there are wide margins near the binding and narrow margins along the edges, and the recipes are very slightly crooked on the page. However, that's not really what it's all about, right? From a Bread Making standpoint: The author provides some great information, especially for a beginner bread maker such as myself. The first recipe I made from this book was the healthy sounding Six-Grain Multigrain Bread, and we liked it so well, I've made it several more times (I add extra flour in order for the dough to form a ball). In fact, we like it so well that I've not yet tried any of the other recipes yet! This bread turned out a little dense which bothered me for...oh, about 5 minutes. I make the recipe into two loaves, and cut and freeze one loaf with the pieces in small baggies so I pull just a few pieces out of the freezer at a time. Now I'm on a mission to find the perfect loaf pan, I have one great double-walled insulated pan and can't find another like it. UPDATE: I've now tried the Honey Wheat Bread recipe...awesome! No alterations to the recipe were needed, the bread has a wonderful lightly crunchy crust, and then the bread itself wonderfully soft. I didn't think I would like this better than the multi-grain, but I think I might. What a treat! (Though the multi-grain will still likely be my preferred recipe as it's got so many healthy grains). ... show more

  • A Wonderful Basic Bread book for your stand mixer - the best!
This can be your only bread making book! I've been making bread the old way for many years. Thank God, this book has liberated me - no it is not just having a dough hook so I don't have to knead by hand - it is the explanation of our modern yeasts. Do you know that with Rapid Rise yeast, you can just throw the yeast in with the dry ingredients, add warm water, mix, then knead. There is no "need" for a number of rises - one rise is enough. This shortened the bread making process by 30 - 60 minutes. The are 14 basic recipes in this thin little bible, but they are the basic breads you want to make - you can add special ingredients if you wish - as is the recipes make delicious bread. I get compliments all the time - they taste better than bread done in a bread machine and the bread is done faster. There is a companion book by the same author called Easy Stand Mixer Dough Recipes: Bagels, Rolls, & Sweet Treats which is as good as the bread book. I bought two of these for friends and they give it 5 stars too! ... show more

  • Reliable & well-written
I have a vast collection of cookbooks and baking books, but I use this one the most frequently. I bake breads from this book three or four times per week, as my son has severe food allergies and we must make much of his food from scratch. I love how thorough and well-written this guide is - the author includes instructions for freezing the bread dough as well as a plethora of adaptations (for example, how to make garlic twists from the basic white bread dough). We are vegan, and the recipes are easily adapted- simply sub olive oil for the lard or butter (and the author includes notes on such fat substitutions). For breads that call for eggs, for each egg called for, we use a tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with three tablespoons of water and left to sit for five minutes. I love this book for its clarity and reliability- these are our go-to, fast, easy, everyday bread recipes. Photo is of multigrain rolls before baking. ... show more

  • Not a Lift mixer baker's manual
This book has some really good recipes written for I would guess the regular Kitchenaid mixer. I followed the recipe to the letter and got a mess.. Not sure why except that I have the big lift 600w mixer and I used to make bread by hand. I needed detailed instructions.. This isn't it😥
