I bought this cord back when I was doing voiceover work. I've done roughly 20 years on the air and knew I wanted quality all around, but didn't want to pay a thousand bucks for something so basic. This little mic cable was exactly what I wanted and the price was very reasonable. It's studio quality and plugs into a standard mic connector on a pro-level mixer board. Just be conscious of the length. If this is for studio work it should work fine. For stage performance, you'll probably need something longer. As an electrical engineer I bought this for the male head in order to fix a wheel chair charger. As far as microphone sound quality I cannot comment but I can tell you how it works. The right pin is your hot wire (+) and the bottom is your return. After cutting the end off I was able to tell the the cable is shielded and the left pin along with the the shield are connected to the casing which prevents ground loops and reduces noise which should give you a quality signal. I originally bought several of these cables to use between our DMX light fixtures. The day they arrived I happened to need a six foot cord on my live mic stand so I tried one of these. The cable is soft and flexible and I could not tell any difference in sound from the custom cable I had been using (that's a good thing, my other cable was very expensive). The connectors are not gold plated but it's an inexpensive cable, it's not pretending to be anything other than a decent low-cost XLR two-conductor shielded cable. Just ordered two for our microphones for karaoke. Arrived in great condition and we haven't had any problems with the sound quality. The cord is stationary, connecting our mixer to the microphone receiver. It's worked great for us this way. I can't say how they perform if the cord is moving around. Working as intended. For me and my basic use as a music/vocal/FX enthusiast I find this cable to be a worthy, and quality cable to keep for all my XLR-based needs. Only issue (not the cables fault) is that it is not long enough after rearranging my setup/positioning of my mic. I will have to order a longer cable to fix this issue. A simple Pros and Cons List below. I'm 5'-11" and this is easily almost a foot shorter than I am tall. I was planning on placing my audio interface between my two monitors in the middle of my desk, but cannot now, as I am short by a foot. Other than that, the cable has performed fine for me. I have it connecting my behringer C-3 to my Focusrite Saffire 6 and the mic is munted on a Rhode PSA 1 swivel mount boom so the cable gets some decent movement and so far I have seen no issues with this. Other reviews have noted that the cable tends to experience issues when it is actively moved, so I will be keeping an eye out for that. ... show more
