Unfortunately, since I've never done anything like this before there are some flaws due to my inexperience. I also didn't calculate correctly on how much I needed, but again due to my in experience. I've been looking forever for a solution to my ugly laminate '70's countertops since I do not have a million dollars for kitchen renovation. I have researched every single option for low cost renewal and just found this roll of wonderfulness two weeks ago. Took the plunge and omg...I cannot believe how good this looks!! I read all the reviews and took shortcomings or problems with the grain of salt they should be taken with and re-adjusted a couple of applications. Preparation is the total key. Sanded countertops, cleaned thoroughly and then again. Used gorilla glue stick to run a shimmer of glue around the edges, corners and tricky cuts in addition to the wonderful stickiness of the product. I then 220 sanded the finished surface and coated it with polyurethane. Let that sucker dry thoroughly, 220 lightly and another coat. Then repeat one more time. (3 coats polyU) I did 4 coats on my counters humped up next to my stove for the heat factor. These countertops look like glass!! Hard as a rock! Easy to clean. Will this stuff ever come up? Probably not in my lifetime!! I'm 70!! lol P A T I E N C E is the key. Take a lot of time. Don't rush it. Use a dowel to feed the back paper onto and keep the roll nice and tight. You will get bubbles. Use an exacto knife to pop them then smooth them down with a soft cloth. I popped and gently slashed small and medium bubbles knowing they will be filled with the poly. To me the Polyurethane is what really finishes this project. Used a foam roller and a foam brush in a "roll and tip" application to get that glass-like finish. Give it a try if you're looking for a kitchen upgrade (or anywhere else!!) You will NOT be disappointed IF you remember, at all times, that preparation and patience ARE the key!!!

After I burned a tennis ball size hole in our 30-year old counter tops, this Peel and Stick counter top came up during an online search as a solution. I wanted something that wasn't permanent, easy to apply, and had a forgiving pattern. This Peel and Stick counter top was everything I was looking for, plus economical! It took about an hour for me to apply. I started on the smallest counter between both the refrigerator and oven. I ran into trouble tucking the sides into tight areas (a second person would have helped but I hate asking for assistance), but I made it work with a little cutting and patching. Once I got a feel for the process, and liked the look of my first counter, I moved on to the main counter. The larger space was a little easier to maneuver, and I gained confidence using the product. The directions were a little vague without indication how to manage seams, so I overlapped each section a bit which worked out well. The faux marble pattern is very forgiving both for seams, and small defects in the counter being covered (remember the hole I mentioned earlier?) I moved slowly, and used a smoothing tool to get as many air bubbles out as possible. The remaining air bubbles I tackled by inserting a pin and smoothed them. Perfect? Not even close, but you can't see them and they're small, so who cares? I ran into more trouble at the corner, and around the sink. My partner was quick to point out my imperfections, but overall, I'm really pleased with how it looks. In fact, I used leftover paper to cover our old beige dishwasher that didn't match our new black appliances. Overall, I'm very pleased with the ease of use of the product, and the quality of the contact paper. It has a glossy sheen that cleans up easily, and I feel like it will be durable for many years. Plus I have enough leftover to repair or replace any sections, if needed. If you're on the fence, give it a go. I do recommend the suggested kit that comes with two smoothing tools and an exact-o knife if you don't already have them in your tool box. They definitely helped with my installation.

Its not going to go on perfect. Work in small sections and realize this is better than lime green counter tops. It allowed us to get an idea of what color we want our new countertops to be. You really need 2 people to do it.
