Pricey but you get what you pay for. The metal support and shelf are what allow the design: cantilevered shelf and expandable. I put this above a stove but I don’t think this was designed for a stovetop - the other Yamazaki shelf unit for stoves was not only too short for my kitchen based on the dimensions given on its product page but also the shelf would have been too low as I did not have room towards the back as you can see in the pic….so I thought I’d check this out….Here are the rest of my thoughts… Caution: I don’t often use the back burners but if I did I think it’s still low for the back but I’d still have to be cautious and not put anything that catches fire easily. Once I baked something in the oven for a long time and the shelf got pretty warm as my range has an exhaust at the rear where heat was coming out. Installation: Instructions were clear . Putting it together wasn’t bad but putting the short screws slightly made me go crazy but once you get over that hump (which was probably the part that took the most time - maybe 10, 15 minutes) the rest was a breeze. Design: Clean and minimal, very sturdy. Mostly made of metal: expandable shelf, a support brace and C legs, which have plastic end caps. Hooks are plastic too but I don’t use them. I have to say the C leg is a great feature and adds a lot of versatility to the piece in that there’s no obstruction and the shelf feels wall mounted. Weight: I have a bunch of items on it - spices and add a Dutch oven too. Just one, for now. If the shelf buckles I will update this review. Overall, a keeper.

Top quality metal and paint. The placement of screws that attach the legs to the surface could certainly have been moved 1 cm medial. The current location makes inserting and tightening screws very difficult. It wasn't necessary to design it to be so awkward. That said, the very expensive shelf is well made. For me it was worth the cost, and is perfect for my needs. AY

I have been searching for a rolling cart for years that is stylish and small for my coffee and breakfast items. I’m picky so nothing fits the bill. I’m still working on the aesthetics, but this is going to be the piece to pull it together without buying a big bulky cart. Feels sturdy, looks sleek, but they have the predrilled holes so close to the edge that you will need strong infant hands to assemble this. Beautiful piece but it’s still overpriced for what it is

I use this for my tv and sound bar. The tv sits on the shelf and the sound bar fits underneath. The assembly instructions were clear and I had it assembled in less than 15 minutes (I didn’t time it but it went fairly fast). I am removing one star because of the use of styrofoam in the packaging. There are better alternatives to styrofoam, and I hope the manufacturer will consider using something else.

I really love this piece! It’s my first Yamazaki product and I’m very happy with this purchase. It’s made out of metal and as you can see it expands. I have it on the widest setting (36.6 inches). At its smallest setting it’s about 21 inches, but you can just slide it to whatever width works for you. Seems pretty sturdy. I have had it a couple months and have a couple of cast iron pans on it and it is very stable. I haven’t worried about anything being wobbly or falling. Very easy assembly, just a few screws, took about 10-15 minutes to put together. It also comes with four small plastic hooks.

I have this shelf over my kitchen sink. Space is very limited. I like the rubberized feet that hold the legs just a hair above the counter. Had a wood shelf before and being near the sink, water would get under the legs. It comes with hooks so I can hang coffee cups or small utensils. This would also be great on a desk, dresser or bathroom counter.

This is an all-metal, well made, multi purpose shelf. I didn’t expect much after having been disappointed by numerous DIY type of junks I bought here bur was pleasantly surprised. Putting it together was a little annoying because the tiny screw heads and the wrench that they included. All in all this is a perfect shelf over your stove, sink, or wherever. Highly recommend.
