I bought the full set because the degrees were exactly how I like my wedge sets to be and because they were cheap and I was familiar with their grips. In all honesty this wedge set has been an absolute game changer for me. Love the weight and balance on them, the quality is actually really good for the price. My chipping game has improved a lot with this set. I went from chunking and thinning shots to being pretty much dialed in on my approach shots. I love the design on these as well. These are nice looking wedges. Things I like: ** Grip is Yamato midsize, so bonus for me -- I had planned to regrip to midsize anyway. This Yamato grip is similar to the feel of a Golf Pride Tour Velvet. It's round (no rib) and feels pretty good. ** Looks like a decent shaft. Steel, and stepless. ** Deep, uniform grooves and milling on the face looks sharp and consistent. Watch out for: ** Lofts were off on the wedges I received: 52* (measured 54*), 56* (measured 59*), and 60* (measured 62*). ** Lie angles on the 52* and 60* were off too -- all were supposed to be 64*; 52* was 2* upright and 60* was 1* upright. ** When I bent the wedges back into spec, I found they were a little tough to bend. Listing says they're made from "forged carbon steel". While I don't doubt that, these wedges were more challenging to bend than quality forged irons like Hogan or Mizuno. Not buttery at all. My guess is these forgings have a higher carbon content to give the grooves and milled surfaces a little more longevity; the downside is the steel feels firmer. I bought this wedge to fill out my “back up set” so it had a lab wedge in it. When I unboxed the wedge, I was very pleased with how it looked, the bounce, and how sharp the grooves looked. I decided to try it out myself and was blown away. The distance, consistency and most importantly spin/stop was amazing. My gamer wedge is a PXG sugar, daddy which typically gets around 10,000 RPMs of spin. It has plenty of stop, but I was never able to spin it backwards. The. Yamato wedge performed as good or dare. I say better than my gamer. After a few rounds, I was sold and have ordered the 54 and 50° wedge to replace the other two in my bag. I understand these aren’t USGA approved but I don’t play USGA tournaments. I play golf to beat my buddies and they are hating that I got this wedge. Golfer waste so much money on equipment so why not buy equipment that is fun and makes you smile? I fully endorse this wedge and don’t hesitate to recommend it to anybody. I purchased these when I started with golf, as they where a cheap alternative to the brand name clubs. I have used these and learned how to shoot different types of shots due to the aggressive grooves on the club face. Which are not supposedly legal for PGA play. What I can tell you though, these will teach you how to shoot the Legal ones. As you will physically see the differences when you hit the balls properly and generate tremendous spin! If anything, everyone should have these for training. When it is easy to generate spin, you learn faster, as opposed to a club that does not. there is a down side to these clubs though, plan on not having any paint left on you balls at the end of a round of golf. I have a couple bags of reclaims I use for practicing chipping due to this. I only use that set of golf balls for chipping. Now will admit, after 4 months of practice, there is not much left to the dimples. lol As I am a tinkerer, I have custom my set with while paint for the lowest groove, and then the loft number for ease of identification in the bag.
