  • Incredible value for price
For a student classical guitar this is a great instrument!! Plays as well as my $4500 Classical, granted the sound is not as good, but for $300 this is well worth it !! If you are looking for a great student classical guitar, look no further…this is a really nice instrument!

  • im happy
The guitar arrived intact with excellent Savarez new strings ready to be tightened and tuned the first time. The body is very light and the cedar soundboard is boldly thin for a factory guitar, so it resonates in a way that you feel in your body when you play. The best budget guitar I've ever played. ... show more

  • Easy to play but very sticky neck.
Easy to play, but very quiet and some chords don't sound right. Sticky neck: As you play, the neck becomes increasingly sticky, and the resin gets on the strings so that they stick to your fingers and ping when you lift your fingers. The resin appears to sweat out of the wood. You can't do slides, and your finger stick to things. Yamaha says they haven't heard of this before. The store told me to clean the guitar with window cleaner. Window cleaner and stained wood don't mix, by the way. Yamaha treats the necks of all its guitars the same way now, so spending more on a more expensive Yamaha probably won't save you from this problem. ... show more

  • I got this from another source with a great bundle price
I got this from another source with a great bundle price. Overall it's a good starting guitar, but some chords don't sound quite right, and higher notes tend to be sharp. Using a Seiko tuner (and comparing to my instructors' guitar) it's easy to see that with open fret tuning dead on, notes that are higher are are a bit sharp. I'm very sensitive to pitch, so this bothers me. But I'll stick with the guitar until I get good enough to justify the next one, and now know at least one thing to check. ... show more

  • Great value for a biginners insterment
G string broke just a few days after I received it. No problem , it gave me the excuse to take to my local guitar set-up guy and have it set-up and restrung. I must say, it doesn't play much differently after it was set-up then when I took it out of the box for the first time. The action was lowered and the grooves in the nut for some of the strings were widened ever so slightly. My ear is not trained enough to notice that much of a difference between the cedar and the spruce top guitars. I was concerned that it dose not have a truss rod but was told by "my guy" that most classical guitars do not. I'm happy... ... show more

  • great guitar
This is a great guitar for the price. Really nice sound, nice action, looks good too. I have no complaints and would recommend to anyone looking for a decent classical guitar at a reasonable price. One sidebar recommendation would be to change the strings when you get it.

  • Great beginner to intermediate guitar
I'm studying classical guitar and have played other genres for decades. I have owned a professional classical guitar and I'm telling you...after auditioning many other guitars, this is a great guitar for anyone needing a beginner to intermediate Spanish guitar for classical or folk. I did not buy from Amazon, only because my local mom and pop guitar store had a Christmas sale on this. My sample has a straight neck, stays in tune, looks very nice for the price point is easy to play and has really nice tone. I play some pieces up around the 12th/135th fret and it holds it's own up there as well (thought not as well as a professional level guitar would/should. The things that matter: tone, playability, tunability/staying in tune, looks are all there. Make sure to check the neck when you get yours. The 4 year maintenance plan at $44 is a bargain and I highly recommend it on Amazon. Yamaha make great classical guitars. Though this is on the lower end of the price point, it will make a great "beach" or "cabin" guitar after I get better and need a "better" guitar due to increased guitar skills in this genre. Buy this with confidence. I even chose it over a CG162 and CG182 in the store because it had really nice tone, had no issues and was $200 less, which I can put towards a higher level guitar in due time. Way to go Amazon and Yamaha guitars! If you are not a Prime member, why not? It more than pays for itself! ... show more

  • Good sound and easy to play
I like the sound and the ease of play of this guitar. The only negative was that a string broke.
