They are very light-weight, but still protect my feet if I walk carefully over the rocks (no problem on asphalt and grass). They have non-slip soles that help after the grass has been watered. These shoes fit very well. They are working great in the water. I do think if using on a beach, you would feel the rocks. The soles are great for the pool but think not so for the beach.
