I purchased these boots to have a waterproof hiking option as it is often very wet and muddy in the areas I frequent, especially in the spring. There was a light rain during first hike I used these on. The hike was only about an hour and water came in the boots at the seam below the laces and I ended up with wet toes. Adding a thorough coat of Nikwax has helped, but it is disappointing to have to do to a product advertised as being waterproof. Other than that, they are very comfortable, super lightweight, and have good tread for hiking. Also, I've seen reviews where people have said the boots *stink* at first. I had this experience too. It is an absolutely horrendous smell, but it goes away after a few weeks.

The media could not be loaded. I got a pair over a month ago and I had to return them. My usual shoe size is 8-8½. They were so small on me I ordered a 9½ and they fit fine. The 1st day walked in them I didn't want take them off but my left Achilles tendon was sore. The 2nd day I felt my Achilles sore the entire time. I hope it's just me getting used to them. I'll do some work with my feet and lower legs. Ok I've been using these replaced shoes that are now my size for a couple of weeks. I have regained from reviewing them because I knew it would be an adjustment. I think the left shoe was manufactured wrong. My right shoe is awesome. My left shoe was so bad today I had to actually remove them and walk barefoot for real. So it stared with my left Achilles tendon feeling a lot of pressure with some discomfort then that improved but my inferior to my left lateral malleolus (below my left outside ankle bone) felt varying degrees of pain and pressure depending on the day. I tried loosening the laces and tightening them. I tried also with different socks. I have very thin 5 finger socks that I tried. I tried regular cree socks and I tried thicker hiking boot socks. The thicker one were the worst! That's what I used today. My right shoe is super fantastic but the left made me limp to avoid any ankle movement and it still hurt. Maybe the top ankle part of the left shoe should have gone on a right foot shoe and not a left foot shoe. IDK 😐 So I did try to return them but they stayed in my car because my mom had to go to the hospital and stuff and I I just forgot about it. I really want these shoes to work. I think I'm going to try to stretch them. I'll let you know if it works. I mean the right shoe fits fine. Ok now October 2022 I can say that the front of the shoe is falling apart after daily use and even before the vinal started to detach these shoe were at best water resistant (that is if you walk but not run through a short distance of dewy grass and the tops your socks didn't get wet the inside of the shoe remained dry). Remember that this a progressive review that I add to over time.

I was hoping these would be the solution to clunky, heavy, overly stiff, make my toes numb hiking boots. Alas, they’re not so the search goes on. I love the zero drop. But i didn’t love that the toebox was pretty standard and didn’t let my toes spread which is part of the idea of minimalist footwear. They were also very tight over the top of the foot and can’t be loosened as the tongue is sewn to the sides of the boot there. This being the major cause of the toe numbness i experience with every other hiking boot, sadly these were not the solution.

I love the zero drop portion of this hiker and how light it is. I ordered a size up as others have suggested. This is my size 8 merrel hiker compared to the size 9 xero hiker I ordered. The size 9 xero is smaller and narrower than my current hiker. Even with a size larger than I normally wear, the xero does not leave any room for my toes to expand as they claim. Only went on one short 3 mile hike in them so far so I’m not sure how I like the feel.

I am measured at a 7.5-8 womens wide. I ordered these without trying them on and basically hoped for a miracle. I ordered an 8.5 and with my thickest winter socks they are a tiny bit tight across the toe box but nothing compared to an average or “narrow” shoe. My thiner socks work perfectly with this boot. I am very pleased! Forrest green color is exactly as pictured.
