  • Best value all-terrain shoe on the market
Size: 14 Color: Black
I spent quite a while trying on shoes and even bought and resold a pair of $300 shoes that did not work out for me. These ended up being far and away the best value out there. Sure, they're NOT a carbon sole (pretty sure "injected carbon" is just a marketing game since these are definitely not like real carbon stiffness), but unless you're constantly pushing 300+ watts or doing lots of 100 mile gravel/road rides in these, you'll be fine. If you're doing that, just spend for the real carbon. These did start to hurt the bottom of my forefoot on a hard century I did recently. One of the best things about these is that they do break in, unlike many higher-end synthetic shoes that need to fit you perfect out of the box. They were a bit narrow at first but broke in to comfortably accommodate my slightly wide feet after 200 miles. The single boa isn't a problem for me at all since I never messed with the forefoot one mid-ride on my old shoes. Velcro does the job there and helps keep these very very light! I will say the low-end boa dials they use on these aren't great. They do the job, but you have to pop them completely loose and then retighten in order to loosen while riding (vs nicer boas where you can just dial them back a bit). They also take a bit more effort to pop loose than nicer ones, but it's fine. THEY NEED TO FIX THE US SIZING ON AMAZON. It's way off. Go by the EU size that shows when you add to cart and they'll be true to size. If you want solid, lightweight shoes that can do it all, but don't have endless money to throw at your hobby, these are the shoes for you! ... show more

  • Good shoe, but be careful of the outersole
Size: 11.5 Color: Black
There are a lot of reviews here suggesting that sizing is an issue. I have no issue with size, in fact the shoes fit very well right out of the box. My issue is that these are really not trail shoes, and the lack of any tread pattern or friction points on the outer mid-sole make these kind of dangerous when stopping and starting. The mid-sole is so slick that any attempt to use that part of the foot to pedal, such as when you start or stop and have to be clipped out of the pedal, can cause your foot to slip and create a dangerous situation. On my first two rides, my foot slipped so fast and uncontrollably on one occasion when I came to a stop that I almost fell over. On another occasion I was starting at a stop sign and my foot slipped and I banged my shin so bad it bled. There should be some tread on the mid part of the shoe to help give a little grip. Other shoes such as the Giro do have this and it’s a great aspect. These are much more similar to a non-tread road shoe with some thick treads than a real gravel or trail shoe as the advertising suggests. It’s a shame really as I tend to buy carefully and use products for a long time. So I’m a little stuck with these shoes, which will most likely end up being my road shoe and indoor winter trainer more than a true mixed surface shoe, which is what I was looking for. Fit is good. No issues with that. And I have been riding clipless pedals for 25 years, so I am accustomed to the style of shoes and how to clip in and out. ... show more

  • Great on the bike
Size: 14 Color: Black
I use this shoe on my road bike which had SPD pedals on it because I didn't want to invest in SPD-SL pedals. For this purpose, these shoes are great - the bottom is very rigid which is great for power transfer. I haven't had any discomfort or nerve pinching, and the Boa dial is a god send. I will say that if you plan to walk around a lot in your cycling shoes, then these are not the shoes for you. While they do have treads on them that elevate the cleat off the ground, this only really works on very flat surfaces. If the surface you are walking on is at all textured then the cleats will scrape the ground and you will feel it (even on some paved surfaces). The hard sole also would make it quite uncomfortable for walking (but it's also what makes these good for pedaling). On the bike, these are great, and seem more like a road shoe with a few MTB features like the treads and SPD cleats, which is exactly what I wanted. Beware: if you select your American size, you will get the wrong product. I ordered an 11.5 US and got a 42.5 EU which is obviously way too small. I had to return it and specifically order a 45 EU. So make the size conversion to EU yourself and then make sure the item you order has the correct EU size in the title. This problem is what stopped me from giving 5 stars. ... show more

  • Sizing Beware!
Size: 14 Color: Military Green/Tangy Green
I really wanted to like these shoes. I'm an avid road and cyclocross rider and was looking for something new. I typically wear Specialized S-Works road shoes in a size 45 and Sidi Wire and Drako shoes in size 46 (I wear a size 11.5 in Nike and 12 in Asics running soes) and so I ordered a size 11.5 which showed up in my cart as a 42.5!? I tried it anyway and of course it was too small and was in fact a 42.5 despite being listed as an 11.5 on the dropdown for size selection. I ended up ordering a size 14! to get the right length but to be honest the shoes run a little wider than I expected. They're a really nice looking shoe, they're well made and the green color is different in a good way but the sizing on the site is all wrong! If you have a wider foot, then maybe these will work for you; I have a narrow foot, more of a Specialized or Sidi fit, so even after getting the legth right the width was still wrong. I was disappointed that they don't fit a narrow foot. I hope you have better luck. ... show more

  • Really nice mtb shoes but sizing is an issue
Size: 11.5 Color: Military Green/Tangy Green
Like others have noted, you have to use the FIZIK size conversion chart as the US sizes listed here are wrong (I had to order a US size 11.5 to get an actual US 9.5). Note: if you place shoe in your shopping cart, it will show the Euro size and then can use FIZIK conversion chart to find the real US size. I had to return as slightly too small but the shoes look great (I got the green version). Quality seemed high for this price point with thoughtful details like sticky dots on the back of the heel cup to help with slippage. I've tried other single BOA shoes (Shimano, Bontrager, Specialized) and these fit my narrow feet like a glove. I bought the open box option to save a few bucks and shoes appeared to be brand new. I imagine they get a lot of returns because of the sizing issues. ... show more
