  • worth every penny for off road peace of mind
Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Blue
Had to actually use these after getting stuck in some deep snow on a back road and they absolutely saved the trip. Getting them wedged under the tires and driving out was way easier than I expected and the boards held up without any cracking or breaking under my truck. For the price compared to the big name brand alternatives these are a really solid option especially if you just want something reliable in your kit for trail days. ... show more

  • Worked like a charm! Worked like a charm!
Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Red
I bought these a year ago and finally had to use them. Five stars for getting me out of a jam. The boards showed white areas where the plastic was stressed or bent. I contacted the company and they said this was normal and not to worry as they have a lifetime warranty should there be a failure.

  • Good boards, Junk hardware
Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Red
Haven't had to use them yet, but the boards seem decent enough for the price. As others mentioned, you'll likely need to source our own mounting hardware. The junk they included is pretty bad and I'm not sure how they expected it to be used. The hardware is way too large to fit in standard T slot cross bars. Would be nice if they ditched the crappy hardware and carrying case and dropped the price a little ... show more

  • Excellent item for off roaders
Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Orange
Excellent for price point. No need to spend $300 for a set when these are just as goodI purposely buried my Tacoma, just so I could use it once. As anyone knows it's almost impossible to bury a Tacoma? My truck drove right out, worked perfect.

  • Not a MaxTrax...and i'm OK with that...
Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Red
The industry standard for recovery traction devices is MaxTrax...and they are totally awesome. They'll also cost you around $300 or more. The X-BULL version cost me $59 on Amazon for the pair. Do the math...I can burn through 5 sets of X-BULLs before reaching the $300 MaxTrax price point. Are they are as durable as the top tier product? Of course not...but if you are looking for a product that you may need off-road only once in a while (or just as peace of mind)...then perhaps you don't need to spend the $300 for the best product on the market. I've rarely needed to use a traction pad after decades of off-roading in sand along the Texas coast/beaches, gumbo mud in Southeast Texas, rocky slop trails in Virginia and Pennsylvania, or on the rocks in Moab (I actually stacked a couple of rocks instead). Inevitably, you may need to use this set to self-recover or use them to help a fellow off-roader out of a tough spot. At this price ($59), you can almost call them a disposable item. The X-BULL is so much better of an option than my 'younger man' days of shoving logs, sticks, pieces of lumber, etc. under your tires to give you just enough bite to sling muddy rooster tails on your buddies helping push you out (ah! the good ol' days - thanks buds!). They are tough, well made and will serve their purpose in multiple settings. To avoid UV deterioration (which also affects the MaxTrax by the way), I keep them inside the vehicle. The X-BULLs do not stack as cleanly as MaxTrax, but that's not a huge factor for me. Plus, they came in a cheap black zipper bag with a carrying handle, which will likely never survive the first time you try to shove a muddy or abused pair back inside...but it's a nice touch. So be prepared - if you store them inside - it could get messy...but typically if you have to take these out, you are probably messy already. I feel the need to remind customers purchasing traction devices, you are buying these to run over - typically in gnarly terrain - to get you out of a jam, unstuck, or over a difficult approach. You will scuff ANY brand up even if you run them over in your driveway or spin out your tires on them. Traction pads are meant to be another tool in your off-road kit that can be used to solve problems on the trail. HINT: Winches, snatch straps, tow ropes, jacks, etc. are also other tools that can aid in recovery. Look online for a review video by some great overlanding Australian YouTubers - "Which is the best 4x4 Recovery Tracks" (08 FEB 2020) who did "tests" on all the various types of traction devices on the market. The X-BULLs held up to some of their ridiculously brutal trials. Did they win? No. Were they the worst? Not even close. They held up sufficiently to be highly competitive all-around in my opinion, and extremely affordable for the average off-roader who'd rather spend $300 on more important upgrades to their rigs. MaxTrax are unquestionably the absolute best...but to me, these XBULL's are the 'everyman off-roader's - more than good enough!' Happy trails! ... show more

  • Saved my butt a few times! Saved my butt a few times!
Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Orange
I came here to write this review because of a scary scenario I encountered last week where these boards helped get me back to safety. I was an idiot and got stuck, alone, at 6,200’ elevation in the Oregon cascades. As a grown man, I couldn’t think of the last time I was actually nervous/scared, but it was getting dark, I had no service and it was a 10+ mile walk out to a paved road. 3 hours of digging snow, my X-Bull traction boards, and a 10,000 point turn finally got me turned around and headed back down the mountain to thaw out. So that’s exactly why I’m here to buy an additional set of 2x boards. At almost 2 years of ownership and these boards have saved my butt more than once. From sand dunes on the Oregon coast, to sticky cascade snow, these traction boards have gotten me out of a few pickles. It can be a little tricky to wedge the boards under a tire but I’ve learned to dig out more than I think I need to in order for the tire to grip. I usually tap the exposed end of the board with a shovel to really wedge under the tire. *I highly recommend tying some paracord or bright colored web strap to each board for easier retrieval- I spent 30 minutes probing a sand dune to get one of my boards back before I thought to add a strap LOL. ... show more

Size: Bag+Hardware+Tracks Color: Orange
Purchased on Black Friday and finally used them for the first time. It was 0°F and I was hooked onto a 15K trailer stuck in a bit of snow. Stuck these in front of the rear wheels and popped the trailer out no problem! The board edges broke, so I’m not sure I would trust the temperature/load rating when you’re going to the extremes of both… but they appear to still be functional. ... show more
