A friend wanted a light weight shawl for going to places with too much a.c. I loom knitted a lacy shawl for her but it was not quite warm enough. I had made a similar shawl a number of years ago when I belonged to a loom knitting club and it had lengths of roving woven in and out or the stitches for decoration so I suggested we try that to make the shawl warmer. It came out beautifully. I wasn't sure how much roving to get so I chose this as the best option. I had plenty left over for other projects. FYI the hank of roving that comes in this item, when unrolled, is about 10 feet long and maybe 1.5" in diameter. I cut off about 10"-14" pieces and separated the section into about 1/2" wide sections to weave into the stitches on the shawl. I twisted them lightly to help them slide and let them untwist and relax when in place. I sewed some beads at the two short ends to help anchor the roving at each end where it will get the most handled. I told my friend loose ends might show now and then throughout the body of the shawl but to just tuck them back in as needed. She loved it and plans to take it on vacation with her. ... show more

I needed white for a needle felting, white rabbit. I ordered white a couple times, but when I received the products they were off white. Finally I tried this wool and it is actually snow white, exactly what I needed. So if you need snow white this is the wool you need. Thank you

This fiber is a beautiful color. It’s soft but not as soft as I thought it would be. I haven’t tried to spin yarn with it yet as I’m waiting for another purchase to arrive but the way it is rolled into a ball makes it look very easy to unwind and grab what you need.

    • I'm new to felting but so far so good.

I bought three 1 lb. boxes of this roving. (white, black and brown) I recently got into needle felting and wanted a large quantity of a few colors to practice with and the price was right on these as others cost $30 - $50 for the same weight. I haven't gotten to the middle of the balls to see if they are full of shreds in the middle like another buyer said hers had, but as I am using it for needle felting and not knitting it wouldn't really be a problem even if there were. And as far as ripping? I haven't had a problem with that at all so far, if anything I've had a problem NOT getting it to rip when I'm trying to tear bits off for felting. I don't know anything about knitting and very little about felting, but for me personally, just buying it to needle felt, I haven't had any problem with it. It felts really well and tight and I am enjoying using it so far. Really the only complaint I have at all is that I would love to see a larger array of colors because I'd love to buy more of this roving in the 1 lb. size if they had more colors to choose from. ... show more
