High waist, high quality real cotton jeans, comfortable.

These jeans fit amazing. They are the perfect high waist and look great with a shirt tucked in. These are the 34 inseam. I am little under 5’4”. Just enough length to wear boots and not have high waters. They are comfortable to sit in all day as well. I have not rode in them, but would definitely think they would be perfect all day, the high waist sits up enough and they don’t fall down, especially in the back. This particular Jean is less stretchy, which is what I want. They feel like real jeans, not the Lycra stretchy jeans. They are very durable and are definitely rip resistance due to the higher quality cotton. I have a lighter color pair that are the same material and I wear the heck out of them. They’ve held up all year with wearing them constantly. Please don’t judge my bad mirror picture, it was all I had of these.

I have, for years, been looking for jeans that fit me well. I haven’t found them, until today. These jeans fit like I sewed them to my own measurements ! I’m so tickled ! I ride both horses and motorcycles, and now I finally have a pair of jeans that stay put. If you have a bigger rear end or saddle bags, I’m not sure how they’ll fit you, but they are made of stretch jeans material, quality material that will last. I’ll be replacing my jeans with these in the future ! Thank you Wrangler !

Unbeatable for the price!

Absolutely gorgeous! Got the Isla color on size 24. They only had 32L, but wished for a 30L. For reference I'm 5' 3" and 110lbs. The fit is accurate per the sizing guide on the Wrangler website. Beautiful grade denim, high waisted and very comfortable on the crotch, even when you sit. Highly recommend. Unbeatable for the price.

Comfortable, great quality...but one issue...

I like the jeans. They fit well, true to size, and I like the light stretch. I also like the higher waist fit. Only thing I don't like is that it's not a flattering fit and makes my butt look extremely flat when it's really not. That's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. But I'd totally buy these again for a comfortable riding and chore jean. PS, Wrangler, please dear GOD bring back the Booty Up jeans...my husband is sorely disappointed in your choice to discontinue those. 🤣 Size reference, I'm 5'4", 130 lbs, ordered a 28x34.

Wish Wrangler was more consistent with the material

I love Wrangler jeans, but I wish the materials were more consistent. I bought this exact same pair about 2 years ago, and they were made with 99% cotton and 1% elastane. The pair I received today is made with a different fabric, and the difference is noticeable. One of the reasons I love the Retro line is because of the thick, heavyweight cotton. There’s just something about the feel and durability of jeans that are 99% cotton. While these new jeans are still okay, they feel thinner, baggier and a bit cheaper compared to the original pair I purchased. Wrangler, if you’re reading this, please keep the materials consistent for the same style of jeans. Many of us buy them because we love the quality and feel of the original fabric.

Great fitting jeans - I am obsessed

UPDATED REVIEW: I officially have a Wrangler obsession. I got the Ember color, still in size 28 but 34 length (it's longer than my standard 32 inch, but better looking with my cowboy boots). These might be my favorite jeans I've ever had. They fit like a dream, they're the perfect medium blue wash, and they are super, super flattering. I'm an athletic 5'6" and 152 lbs and normally wear a size 8 in most things. I still love the Isla wash for when I want a dark blue, but these Embers are my new favorite color, fit, and length. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Based on the reviews, I ordered one size down (waist 28 like a size 6 instead of my usual 29, size 8), and the fit is absolutely perfect. I LOVE these jeans so much. They're my new favorite. So comfortable right away and the high waist is very flattering on my long torso. They also look great with my tall cowboy boots, but note that the calf on these jeans is a narrow bootcut, so boots fit nicely still, but you definitely see where they end at the top in your jean leg. I don't mind that at all, but if you like a wider boot cut at the bottom so it doesn't show at all where your boots end, you may not like these.

Inconsistently Made/Poor Quality

Wrangler has always made my favorite jeans, but the Retro are inconsistently made. The seams lay straight on some, but not others. The waist sizing, rise, ankle width, and length are also inconsistent. I had a great experience with what I purchased in-store, but all three jeans I ordered via Amazon have issues. None of the three are the same, yet all are sized the same and are only supposed to have varying colors. I bought a Mary, Isla, and Amber. The Amber wore holes quickly, Mary broke zipper teeth, the second day of wear, and the Isla has uneven material on both sides and in the inseam. One rivet has also been missing off the back, right pocket since the day of delivery. This has been my worst experience with Wrangler and if it was my first, I would not purchase their products again. I sent the Mary back immediately after the zipper broke and am now sending the Isla back because they are not comfortable. I was going to overlook the rivet, but it's not worth it since they were so poorly sewn. I'd send the Amber back, but since they have holes after only a few uses, I don't think they're returnable. Another issue I had was upon needing to return the Mary jeans, I mistakingly selected Isla because the coloring is almost identical. I was unaware, until I was alerted that I still needed to return them. After looking into it, I discovered they refunded the Isla and Mary, and that I need to send the Isla back too. If the company didn't label them as different colors when they look so similar, I would've selected to correct jeans. It was nearly impossible to tell and the pictures were no help. I tried for several minutes, trying to determine which was the correct jeans to select that I was returning because there was no label on the packaging and the tags in the pants do not show the name/type either. I planned to keep the Isla jeans and deal with the uncomfortable wear from the irregular material and missing rivet, but because I cannot make them work comfortably, I decided to seize the opportunity and send them back anyway.

Pay attention to review sizing and desired fit.

Really like the tight fit and the quality. Based on other reviews I took a chance on their recommended sizing and won. They apparently run big. I bought 26 waist X 30 length. I'm 5'4", 114 lbs. and have never in my grown years bought that waist size. The denim has stretch but is a lovely, heavy weight (not leggings). LIKE THESE!
