I am not really a hiker but my best friend and I just went to Argentina and decided to go to Patagonia to hike a glacier. It sounded so magical that we couldn't pass it up but, truth be told, I was nervous because I had to buy everything I needed for the hike which cut into my travel budget. After looking around at several sporting websites and seeing that all the hiking boots were well over $100 I decided to look on Amazon and because of the reviews decided to try these boots. I am between a 5 1/2 and the six so I started with a 6 1/2 which were definitely too small. I exhanged them for a size 7 and the first time I put them on I thought I was having a past life memory of the mafia fitting me with cement shoes. Omg, they felt so hard and heavy! I was thinking I would need to return them and go ahead and splurge on and expensive pair but decided to wait until I went to the REI garage sale that my friend told me about (if you are not familiar with that it might be worth looking up). The day of the garage sale I brought my boots to the store because I heard they had a rock wall you could climb on to see how your shoes fit. It's more of a hump than a wall but it was very helpful and a couple people at the store commented on what great boots I had. For some reason, they felt more comfortable so I decided just to keep them. I got a pair of silk socks to wear underneath my hiking socks because my friend said that was supposed to help prevent blisters. I did not wear them for more than a few minutes prior to going on my hikes in Argentina, one was on a glacier where I had to wear crampons and the other was a rocky trail. These boots were amazing! I wore them for the entire day, both hiking and afterwards when we went into town to get a bite to eat. Not only did I not get blisters but I felt very safe and secure on both hikes. Obviously, the glacier was damp and there were times when we walked through puddles. My feet were not submerged underwater per se but they definitely got wet. Well, I should say my shoes got wet and my feet stayed dry ;). The other hike had some precarious rocks and dirt and I felt like I had a secure grip on the ground as well as having my ankles protected from anything that made me a little wobbly. As far as hiking boots go (I'm more of a Louboutin girl) I would consider these to be attractive. I am amazed they are so inexpensive and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. The souls were still a little hard so it might be worth taking them to a shoemaker to have some sort of cushion/gel insole put in but, despite that, I still found them to be very comfortable. A great investment that saved enough space in my budget for a fantastic dinner ;)

Still rocking these for long hikes. I love the toe support, I would also suggest a half size or size up to ensure you have room but I can’t stub my toes in these! They traverse rocky terrain well! I feel like I can walk on anything in them. No holes! Yet! Update 02/04/24 They still kick ass and are still waterproof! 04/03/24 They’re still great. Moderate use, every other other weekend or so. 04/21/26 They’re still good. I still love them. I stepped full into creek water and was so worried about them not drying well - they’ve survived, dried well, somehow managed to prevent them from being stinky - I will say I am finally noticing some wear and tear in the lower surrounding area of the boots, like they bend with my feet and then the lower rubberish ring is starting to look like it’s going to break off, but it still hasn’t. I can’t believe it. I still want a new pair but this one pair has been through so much and is still perfectly wearable, comfortable, and amazing for how much I shove my feet into rocks and the ground, they keep your feet so protected it’s ridiculous. I got these for my wife as we have been getting into hiking and she wanted something that provided more support. My wife had ankle surgery and so it has taken her some time to recover and get to the point where she can walk on unsteady terrain. She wanted some boots that would give me support and make her feel like her foot and ankle were secure and limit the possibility of injuring the ankle by a twist or fall. What my wife loves about these boots is that they feel like they are solid ... she said they feel kind of like a ski boot. She enjoys the extra support over tennis shoes and the higher top helps to keep her ankle and foot in line. The boot tread also helps to keep her from slipping and it has good traction. She has never worn any type of boot before so she was surprised how nice they felt ... even though the weight of the boots took a little getting used to compared to tennis shoes. We have gone on about 3-4 hikes a week since she got these and they are durable and take any punishment she has managed to put them through so far. She said she will definitely get another pair of these when the time comes for a replacement. All in all, these surpassed my wife's expectations and she is able to do things that she thought she may never do again. The boots are a contributor to those activities as they give her confidence. UPDATE: I'm back from my trip to Iceland and updating the review. These shows are warm, sturdy and waterproof (unless you accidentally fall into a glacial lake and submerge them from the top down like I did haha but that was entirely my fault. They seem to be drying well from the accident!). The only reason why I'm giving these 4/5 stars is because they created pressure points on the left side (outside) of my calf on both legs after a few days of wearing them. So if you're going to be hiking for a week or so, bring another pair of shoes to swap between because these shoes are very stiff and might create pressure points. That's the only downside to these, otherwise they're awesome and I'm glad I bought these. I ordered these for my upcoming trip to Iceland so I will update my review post trip, but so far I love them and I think they will be perfect. They fit very well and provide comfortable arch and ankle support. They also seem to be quality construction and materiel. I was unsure of what size it order based on the mixed sizing reviews and I did the "sizing guide" that comes with the product and after filling out the questions it told me to order a size 8.5 so that's what I did and they fit! I usually wear a size 8 and sometimes an 8.5 depending on the shoe. I tried them on with thin socks, medium thick socks, regular thick socks, and extra thick insulated wool socks (the super heavy ones for snowboarding) and they fit with all of them!! They're almmoosstt too snug with the extra thick insulated socks, but they still fit and I don't expect it to be a problem. In the photos I'm wearing regular thick socks. Bonus: these are pretty cute as far as hiking and outdoor shoes go for women!

I love these boots so much, but they definitely took some breaking in. I am a casual hiker, hitting my favorite trails most mornings, but I'm not climbing mountains or anything. After a 6th severe ankle sprain (while hiking), I bought these for the support, and boy do they deliver. My ankle feels completely stable in this bit, and I almost hate to take them off. I have turned the ankle several times, and would surely have re-injured it, if not in these boots. Ankle support is solid. They are very grippy, and I don't worry (much) about losing my footing. They aren't waterproof if you submerge your foot (don't ask me how I know that), but they do fine on the trails for wet conditions. My only complaint is that they run small. I normally wear an 8-8 1/2, ordered an 8 1/2, and...yeah. my big toes are right to the end, and hurt when going downhill (that said, I would injure my toenails before these boots and they'd turn black and fall off...none of that since I've gotten these). They also wore big ole blisters into my little toes, the first couple of weeks. After about a mile, it would get bad. They have stretched or my skin has toughened, whatever, but I can do 6 or 7 miles with no blisters, now. I just ordered a 2nd pair (in a 9), so I can break them in and be prepared for when I need them. I'm 6 months in and aside from the dirt, show no signs of wear. They are holding up well.

These look like very nice boots and when i got them they were super comfortable and had great ankle support but after the first wear the outer material started flaking off and creasing in the wrong place on my toes. The boots began digging into my toes with every step. Very disappointing. Do not buy these boots. I returned them.

I bought these for my wife, as she was in desperate need of a good pair of winter boots that would provide her with stability and traction while walking on the ice and snow. She had already taken a nasty fall after the recent blizzard here in NYC, so she reviewed her choices carefully, and ultimately went with these (even though they're sold as hiking boots, and not necessarily winter boots). So far, she's quite happy with them. She says while they are a little on the clunky side, they also manage to be fairly lightweight and warm, but without making her feet too hot (she dislikes fur-lined boots for that very reason). They also have a heavy lug pattern on the bottom, which so far, is providing the traction she was desperately hoping for as well. As for the sizing, she made it a point to remind me to state here that everything you've read about the sizing in other reviews is true. YOU'LL NEED TO GO UP ONE FULL SIZE TO GET THE PROPER FIT, AS THESE RUN SMALL. She normally wears an 8 in boots, but based on the reviews, she ordered a 9. They fit perfectly, to the point that she says she knows for a fact that if she had gone with an 8, or even an 8.5, they would've been too tight. They do have some room, but she says it's not a problem; her feet aren't sliding around inside the boots, and she could wear a second pair of socks with them if she needed to (although so far, that hasn't been necessary). So far, these seem to be working out pretty well for her, so if walking on the ice and snow is a problem, as it can be for her, these are a great choice. Keep in mind what I said about the sizing, and you should have no problem.

I do not regret buying these shoes. I’ve categorized my review in terms of different factors: 1. SIZE: I normally wear a US size 7 1/2 but I purchased the US size 8 instead and the fit is very comfortable. I’d advise anyone purchasing this shoe to buy half size up if you want toe wiggle room. One thing to note: the shoe comes with very thick soles- if you remove them you’ll get more space in the shoe in case it comes too tight- bear in mind this may compromise the comfort. You do not want a shoes like this too form fitting or else your feet will hurt after walking for some time. With that said- It is true to the size chart. (I measured the length of my foot and used the size chart recommended size then I purchased half size up) so According to the chart I’m a size 7 1/2 but I bought size 8. 2. STYLE: the Xpeti women’s mid rise hiking boots are very striking. I’ve received many compliments and I love the fact that I can lace up the shoe all the way up. The shoe design provides great grip at the bottom so you won’t slip in mud or on steep slopes ( I hike a lot for my job so I have first hand experience with the shoe on steep slopes) 3. DURABILITY and QUALITY: the shoe is of great quality and the build is very strong. It really is waterproof and that’s great. All and all a great purchase. Con: may be slippery on wet smooth rocks
