  • This Fits on Rear Seat
The rear seat on my Osagain canoe is rather narrow, but I like that configuration as it is easy to load the boat for camping and trim it with my wife in the front seat. We haul a heavy load and camp in relative luxury, and aluminum is the logical boat for us. This is the only seat with backer which fits my aluminum canoe flat rear seat that I know of. The Wise seat fits nicely. There is a place where a stainless eyebolt can go into the rear of the seatback, and I screwed one in, the smallest stainless eyebolt I could find at Lowes. A rope was run from the forward aluminum seat support on one side (under the gunwale) up behind the seat and thru the eyebolt, and then down to the forward seat support on the other side. So when covering the miles the hinge stop is not the only support, I can lean back with confidence. No. 14 diameter stainless screws were used in drilled holes up thru the flat aluminum seat to mount the Wise seat into the plastic bosses with holes provided. I used the longest screws that will fit without bottoming out, but have forgotten the length. The bite of no. 14 screws has been sufficient, and imo 1/4" diameter would be too big. imo if covering distance, the seat stop bracket is not enough. I'm 6' 220 lbs. and the Wise seat is wide enough and comfortable enough for me, no problems at all. I'm very happy with the results I have obtained with it. ... show more

  • Use a tilting aluminum mounting bracket
I have installed three of these seats in small fishing boats using the Wise Sure Mount Seat Bracket, Metal (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AXOYQ/ or search on Amazon). Only problem I ever had was the cushion connectors wore out after several years use. The seat bracket works like a charm and allows the seat to slide back and forth, and to freely fold forward and be removed. The bracket does require a bench surface that has a 90 degree front edge. It won't work on a well rounded edge like in my current Gheenoe. ... show more

  • Not just for kayaking
Worked great for what I was using it on.

  • Eases the back srain, but not overally comfortable
Works well, little to thin you bottom will hang off the sides, and the padding is not think enough. It does slide around while you are seated if you are moving around to fish or if it is wavy. It does help ease the back strain, though. We bring it along in the canoe but most of the time we end up using a canoe seat pad I picked up form Dick's Sporting Good for about $12. ... show more

  • extremely comfortable and a very neutral green/gray
We have an outrigger canoe (used for leisure, not racing). I spent a lot of hours looking (at stadium seats, kayak, etc.), but this is the only seat that was narrow enough, and while I wasn't thrilled by the picture, I am wowed by the chair itself. It is very well made, extremely comfortable and a very neutral green/gray. It is very sturdy and yet there is some flex to the back, which low and hits just the right spot for support. It also lightweight, folds and carries easily (kind of a handle at the fold). I used some pipe insulation on the wire and chair edge to protect our fiberglass canoe seat (maybe not necessary, but better safe. . . ). I couldn't be happier (and I plan to use it the next time I have to sit on a bleacher seat. . . ) ... show more

  • worked surprisingly better than I expected
worked surprisingly better than I expected. It also has screw fittings to put seat swivel under... but in a canoe one usually only faces forward or back. Not as good as a wider / padded seat... but more compact!

  • Perfect chair
The chairs were perfect for the canoe! Just know it's a black seat so the sun will heat it up. We loved having back support while canoeing this weekend. Thank you!

  • Good seat for bigger guys
I'm 260lbs and when I considered the other seats and tried them out they did not work, more weight means you need more support. As long as you don't attempt a full recline this seat does the trick, takes the edge off when ur paddling around. The metal part underneath will bend but did not break when I attempted a full recline in the canoe but I bent back and allowed again for almost full support, meaning it went back to the original. It made the BWCA possible for a guy that suffers from back problems. Wouldn't leave home for any canoe trip without it! ... show more
