I would have given it more stars except the information that's in the book could be a little more indepth. I have to say that a spiral bound book is so much easier to use, so I'll be looking more toward spiral bound as I purchase.

Review for: Book - Wire Wrap Jewelry Making for Beginners: Soft cover Book. This is a Must have book for anyone who is interested in making wire wrap Jewelry. I tend to be conservative when I do my review ratings. I reserve my 5 star ratings for items that I feel are above and beyond the average. And this book definitely deserves 5 stars. It is well written The Author Lisa Yang covers the basics, The tools are identified and a description of what they are used for is given. The terns are listed with a definition of what they mean so that you can pretty much follow any pattern. The book has a lot of pictures showing how to bend the wire and what is needed to make the different pieces of jewelry, The steps are easy to follow. The patterns that are included have a skill rating and gives a time estimate about how long the project may take. The book is not that big but it is packed with a lot of good information to get you started on making your own wire wrapped Jewelry. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about Wire wrap Jewelry making. ... show more

    • Great beginner book
My mom did a lot of jewelry making, starting long after I had left home. She did amazing work, and I really should have made an opportunity for her to teach me how. I do know a bit about making jewelry, just from asking her questions about the pieces she was wearing, or the items she gifted to me. But certainly not enough to actually make anything myself. I saw this book at a point where I was feeling particularly nostalgic and wanting to feel closer to her again. I am quite impressed. This book is not assuming that you know much at all about jewelry making, so it starts with great descriptions of the tools you'll need, and then gives wonderful step-by-step instruction on some basic techniques. You are getting the chance to actually make something while learning the basics too. And they teach you to make your own findings. That is something I really appreciate with the jewelry from Mom -- I really love the clasps she made. The book continues with teaching new techniques and including nice projects that use those techniques. The photos really show what you are supposed to do, and the descriptions are easy to understand and not overly complex. I'd rather learn from my mother, but this book may be more patient! ... show more

    • Great book to learn new jewelry making skills
I've been experimenting with jewelry making but mostly using pre-made findings and settings, so I really wanted to learn some wire working skills to start making those things myself. This book does a great job explaining all the tools you need (including a few types of pliers I hadn't seen before) and how to use them. The first sections walk you through working with different types of wire to make basic shapes and findings, and then moves on step by step to incorporate beads and more complex arrangements. There are a ton of great pictures that show you what to do step by step and several projects with difficulty ratings are included to practice your new skills and turn them into wearable pieces. The main thing for me was learning how to manipulate the wire and my tools to get the results I want and there are a ton of great techniques here that I, as a beginner, found incredibly easy to visualize and work my way through. As with all new skills, I expect my results to become more polished over time - but this book basically got me from square one to well on my way to creating some cool stuff.
