  • Great Portable Monitor for the Traveling Gamer
The Wimaxit Portable monitor has wowed me especially coming for another portable monitor. The colors are very fluid and since it has HDR they are very Vibrant. 15.6 is a great size for a monitor that you can take with you as it can fit in a laptop bag or a backpack so the monitor can be pulled out with ease. Speakers are great and Brightness was great as well you just need to turn it up. VESA mounting is on the rear so you can mount the monitor on a VESA mount if needed. The cover is magnetic and used as the stand for the monitor. The stand is ok to keep the monitor upright. I tested the monitor out with the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and My Galaxy S22 Ultra. Connecting to the PS5 was easy with a HDMI cable either the one provided or that one that comes with the PS5 and either the USB-C to USB-C cable or the USB-A to USB-C to connected to the PS5 for power works. So you only need to plug in the PS5 to the power source. You also can plug the monitor to a power source as well if needed. As the pic shows that I uploaded the PS5 displays 1080p 60hz right away and HDR auto on. Games displayed great and no latency on the gameplay. The Xbox Series X was the same connecting to the monitor except that you can’t use the USB-C to USB-C cable to connect to the Xbox for power but you can use the USB-A to USB-C. On Xbox you may have to change the display settings to 1080p because once I checked the Xbox was displaying 720p as I changed it to 1080p manually. Games displayed great and no latency on the gameplay The Nintendo Switch connected directly USB-C to USB-C Cable no problems but you will need the external power source connected for the switch to display on the monitor and once I did that no problems with the switch and played games fine. Using my Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra, my phone worked right away with the USB-C to USB-C cable as it activated Samsung DEX and The portable monitor is also touch so I can use the monitor as a big tablet since the touch works immediately when connected. I feel that my only con is the cables are a tad short for power connection but I can always get longer ones so not really a huge problem there. Overall a Great Portable monitor for travelers. ... show more

  • Great Portable Monitor That's Portable & Versatile
So first off just want to say that initially i was excited to have this Portable monitor. That is not to say that i am no longer excited about this portable monitor.and its uses. thats just to say that this product is new to me as its the first portable monitor that i have ever had. 1. CONTENTS - Portable Monitor - Screen Protector - USB-C to USB-C Cable - USB-A to USB-C Cable - HDMI to HDMI Cable - Power Brick - Product Paperwork While the Portable monitor, screen protector, HDMI cable and power brick are standard i have noticed that for the USB-C cables tend to be a little finicky. I tried using my own USB-C to USB-C cable with the monitor with no effect but the monitor powering on without displaying video. This may not seem like an initial issue but say the USB-C cable goes out. What then? Other than that I can say for certain that while the cables are thick they are fairly short which isnt necessarily an issue being that the monitor is able to be powered via USB-C. While this is more of a side note, I found it interesting that an actual instruction manual was not included in the packaging. interesting because while there is not alot of things to throw out, in terms of end consumer waste, it does create an senario where some consumers may say the the monitor does not fuction properly where as it may be the case where they are not using it in the correct way (ie the touch function on PC and troubleshooting FAQs). Having this type of info in the box would at least give consumers a baseline of what could go wrong and how to fix the issue as opposed to reaching out for that same info. This is not a negative for me just a small note as not all buyers read the whole product listing. 2. Experience ~Power to the Monitor~ From my experiece, some of my USB-C devices were able to power the monitor using a single USB-C cable with issues of the screen either flickering or displaying an image and then the monitor shutting off then turning back on. Specifically when trying to watch videos or play games but for majority of cases i ended up having to use a 2 cable setup. I was also able to power the monitor with a USB-C power bank which makes portability that much simpler instead of trying to find an outlet . I dont see powering this monitor being an issue for larger devices however for smaller devices such as phones or smaller tablets you will end up having an issue where the monitor flickers on and off due to the draw of power from the device being to low. It would have been cool if there was some sort of internal rechargeable battery. Granted the monitor would be thicker but it would cater to the portable aspect of this monitor. ~Picture/Video and Sound~ While most devices' resolution fits this monitor i found that when mirroring the screen of my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S21) and tablet, The picture/video did not completely fit the full screen of the monitor showing rather thick black bars on the top, right and bottom when mirroring my phone and on the left and right when mirroring my tablet. This was unexpected at first mainly because the picture and video is being mirrored but upon testing with other products that has this plug and play style it has happened on other products but not all. I did not encounter this issue when using Samsung Dex. Visually the screen size is ideal and picture/video quality is clear and crisp. Viewing angles are superb as i was able to turn the monitor almost a full 90 degrees without any picture/video dimming. The speakers on this monitor are decent. while they are not the loudest or have the clearest audio at times they are sufficient for listening to music, watching videos or playing games when on the go or in enviroments that dont have excessive noise levels. The 3.5mm jack makes of for this in many ways, rather you are using headphones or connecting speakers. You have that ability to adapt when switching enviroments and i like that. ~Travel~ Traveling with this monitor was sweet and simple. I was able to put this monitor in my laptop backpack along with my 15" laptop and other accessories that i planned to use. At about 4 Lbs. my backpack weight was not that much heavier than it usually is and im able to manuever very much the same as i usually am. ~Gaming~ Gaming on consoles are easy peasy plug and play literally. all that is needed is an outlet for the console and your all set as most consoles have USB-A ports that supply power that is enough to power the monitor. With the aforemention short cables provided there are no issues with cable management whilst on your on-the-go gaming session. Mobile gaming is somewhat of a different story though as i found that just having my phone and a gamepad more fits the "Portable" aspect of this Monitor. Light and simple. While i mentioned before that when mirroring the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S21 black bars showed up, it still served its purpose for what i was using it for. There was also the option for me to use Samsung Dex which added a better effect to the gaming envirometnt being that all apps (even mobile games) showed full screen which gave a better impression on the mobile gaming experience. Other than that all other games that were not gamepad oriented played and looked great with no issues and even felt better with the monitor's touch capabilities ~Other Uses~ I used my NIKON D5600 and CANON Mark III with this monitor and honestly it was great having a larger screen to view what i was recording to make sure that things were in focus. I often use the touchscreen on these cameras to have the camera focus on that selected area of view for the camera (ie to focus on things that are close for close ups of products) so knowing that this monitor has touch screen capabilities the thought jumped in my head. "I wonder if i can use the monitor for this function". Sadly the touch function did not work even when plugging in the USB-C into the cameras. I found it weird because the cameras have touch capabilities and the monitor does as well. The camera's screen is no longer active and is displayed on the monitor but the touch functions are disabled. Not sure if this functionality can be reenabled but i found it weird that a PC with no touch functions can be set up to use touch function (on the WIMAXIT Portable Monitor) but this function is disabled with touch capable cameras. I have not ran into any other issues like this with other devices but i would like to see functionality added for that but realistically that would be something that is not likely to happen as the monitor...is a monitor so ill take that on the go lol. Laptops and PCs are fairly standard and there is not much to add to that as im sure EVERYONE has had their fair share of using monitors and touch functions. I will say that for me this more so adds an accent to my workstation environment. I rarely ever use touch functions for my day to day work but i can see myself having this monitor on the side to play videos or music. 3. Tips So while this is a monitor and im sure no one really needs tips on how to use a monitor. I did find myself playing around with the monitor settings which allowed me enhance my experience. ~Picture Menu~ The "GameMode" option under the "Picture" menu is basically a glorified Brightness Boost for when the max brightness isnt bright enough. This setting does not change any other setting ~Advance Menu~ Ultra HDR Mode - Im sure that everyone knows what HDR is but the Ultra HDR Mode does give pop to color. When it is off the screen seems to have a white film over it but when it is on that white film look is gone and the colors pop out at you. Granted i do have the brightness at max and GameMode is set Performance Mode. Eye Protection - For those long sessions. Im sure alot of monitors have this feature but eye care is important. 3D sound - I do notice that this setting does change the audio quality however i have yet to find a sure fire way to use it. There have been times where i had this on and the audio for videos played lower than expected and when i turned it off the audio got louder so im not sure if it just the specific content thats being played or the content form. So for instance Watching videos or listening to music (which will have different audio quality based on the uploader/platform.) VS. Audio from Games or movies which are averagely consistance based on your ingame settings. *Final Thoughts* While This monitor has a great deal of potential for what it can be used for there are somethings that hender it functionality. Honestly i can look over the issue with the black bars when mirroring my phone and even the issues with the screen flickering or shutting off. Things like that are easily fixable. The only real cons i have is that the full range of access for certain customers based on the device being used with the monitor (ie certain phones like iphones and PC/Laptops) is limited based on the listing info. This is a product meant to display what is connected rather it be via USB-C or HDMI so that is confusing as to why that is the case. Also there are cases where functions are able to be enabled but there are cases where functions are disabled and cannot be re-enabled. For instance, Touch functions can be applied to a non touch capable PC/laptop (via the WIMAXIT portable monitor) but the touch functionality is disabled (on the WIMAXIT portable monitor and camera) when connecting a Camera which is already touch capable. I love this monitor and while it has its downsides, which all products do, I can recommend this monitor for those who like to be on the move and want not only portability but versatility in their arsenal of tech. It's also great for gamers and even photographers/videographers who just want that larger visual of what they are capturing. ... show more
