Over the past years, I have been playing football in China, Shanghai to be precise, with a growing number of local fans. We had our share of "footballs" that are made locally and quite cheap to be honest but eventually every single one of them would just lose shape and lose its grip. Two of our QBs got official Wilson footballs back a while a go and every time we will have them for a game you could feel the difference instantaneously. And since I have been following NCAA games, and I want to help my team I decided to order this version. The shipment from the USA to China was faster than expected (by 1 week) and the parcel arrived in perfect conditions. The ball came inflated already, so there is no risk of being faulty. Very nice football I base my football reviews on three points, general grip, throwability, and catchability. general grip: 5/5 the grip is excellent, particularly the laces, but the leather is tacky enough that it can be thrown from almost anywhere. it is easy to hold onto as well. throwability: 5/5. the laces are very good and I've never had trouble throwing a good spiral with this ball. easy to throw accurately oo. catchability: 5/5. my receivers never complain about this ball being hard to catch, as we have had trouble with some other footballs in the past. It can however hurt to catch though, if thrown hard, but this is typical of any leather football and does not detract from it in any way. overall: 5/5. This is one of the best footballs I've had, and I can't find any fault in it whatsoever ... show more

This ball feels amazing. I have also ordered the Wilson kit to break it in and the tacky spray to help with grip. Will let you all know once this rain clears later in the week! Honestly it feels pretty good without it but I want to extend the life of the ball. Wilson leather products feel hand made. They feel worth every penny.. as it passes across each of my fingers and I roll it in my hand I can tell this is of the highest quality. ... show more

My son graduated from HS but still wanted to have a nice football. As a graduation gift I thought I'll buy him a nice leather football, probably should have done that sooner. The ball appears to be well made. I just happened to get one of the flawed ones. You can't get anything that is 100% perfect. you can expect a few to slide by with a flaw or two. It just won't hold air. I'm sure it isn't a big deal because it is the same ball that our school uses for games and practice. This is the worst football on the market. If you’re a receiver, imagine the quarterback throwing right to your chest and you go to catch the ball, but it’s not a ball your trying to catch, it’s a hammer. As a quarterback, imagine trying to put a spiral on a hammer. As a hammer, it works, the ends of the ball are so hard you can drive a nail into wood with it. The laces are so big and hard it hurts to catch, the white stripes are supposed to provide better grip, however the rest of the ball is so slippery the white stripes are useless (yes I broke the ball in, in fact I bought two, the first one I brushed and lightly sanded, the second I just used until it became broken in). Wilson makes some good footballs (the TDS is great and the composite version of the GST isn’t bad) however this ball is hard to put a spiral on, it is difficult to get a good grip on and hurts to catch, literally ANY ball is better. Unfortunately Wilson has managed to get the national high school athletic association to use this ball. Each state that follows the national athletic association uses the balls that the national association uses. So kids are stuck using this terrible ball. ... show more
