Being a cloths horse, I’ve bought and assembled many varieties of this type of closet. This particular product is the very best ever. The metal is sturdy, the top hanger bar comes with a support and best of all the standing upright supports ( which are 8 pieces you have to stack 2 by 2 to get 4 upright pieces) are conveniently attached by a sturdy inside elastic band allowing quick assembly so they just snap together. It’s a decent piece to store clothes. It’s kind of stable. It’s enough to last for some months at least. I got it for my mother but when we got it and we’re putting it together, one of the zippers at the top wasn’t even attached. I tried attaching it myself with no luck. I bought these because I don't have a proper closet, so I bought them in place of one -- it's a little bit annoying to have to zip/unzip all the time, but I think if you used them for storage of clothes it would be perfect. The cover does feel a bit frail and you should probably be careful with it regardless, but other than that I think it's been holding up very well. They are just about stuffed full of clothes, but I did try to "strategically" place clothes so that one area didn't get heavier than another (as a result I couldn't put all my jackets together, or all my pants, etc). I'm still watching the hanging bar to see if it'll last, but so far (couple months) it seems like it's doing fine. It's very easy to put together, the only thing I did differently was lay down the cover and place the rods in with the cover already set down (the instructions have you place in the rods without extending them and pulling the cover over them, and then extending the rods) -- either way, no matter which way you do it, you really just have to be careful with the cover, it will most likely rip if you're not careful with it while putting it together. Make sure you don't pull up one side farther than another while manipulating it and everything will be fine. For what I paid and what I'm using it for I've very happy, I wish I had the space and budget for something more closet-like, but these are doing well for now. I'd recommend them for clothes storage. The cover is somewhat like a breathable cloth and probably gets dirty very easily (so don't wipe it with a wet cloth especially if there's visible dust on it) -- if used for storage just cover it with a large trash bag or something similar. ... show more

The company lists its phone number on the directions. I got stuck and couldn't figure out how to do the last step. When I called a nice person answered the phone and told me what I needed to do! No time on hold! For the price, the closet seems pretty sturdy and thoughtfully made.

This is a neat little storage closet! It was easy to assemble (although it was helpful to have a person to help with the assembly). I was concerned about the stability of the frame initially but I took a mallet and used it on the ends to ensure the poles fit well inside the base. The end product was quite sturdy! I’ve used it to hang fancier clothes that I don’t always use as much to protect them from getting dusty and taking up space in my closet. I was surprised by how much weight this rack can withhold! The base has enough space to put a tote box in it so I threw in old sweaters in a box and put it on the base, the. Zipped up the entire thing and put it in a corner of my bedroom. I love the way it looks- sleek and sophisticated. Definitely worth the price! My mom saw it in my home and now wants one for her extra clothes too! ... show more

I have ordered several of these over the years to use in basement and remote storage. The most recent set came with two broken "arm" pieces - it looked like Amazon had sent me a used one. I contacted customer service for Whitmor as requested on the insert in the box and they immediately shipped me two replacements, and two extras in case something goes wrong. This was free of charge, no shipping cost, not even a cost for the two extra "arms." And I received the replacements within a week of my initial email - all during the initial weeks of the COVID-19 shutdown period. Overall the product is well designed and well built. It is not built to house a very heavy wardrobe - and that is fine. Don't overload it, is all. Otherwise, these have been fabulous for keeping our remotely stored items clean, dust-free, free from any mildew smell, etc. where they are being stored. It is a great product! ... show more

    • Sturdy enough to hold several heavy coats and fill all the way across with blazers etc.
I needed to relieve a very stuffed closet so I purchased this to put all outerwear and blazers away in another room. I have to say I thought it was very possibly going to be too flimsy but it was easy and quick to assemble and it is literally full now including 8 leather coats and it is not bowing. I am quite impressed. The reviews were mixed but I took a 50/50 chance and I am pleased. It is just tall enough to hang a maxi coat and I am 5'7. It would have been nice if there was a place to put storage below within the cover but without it you could put shoes on floor between poles. ... show more
