  • Perfect for wide feet!
Size: 6.5 Wide Color: W823 | Green Gum
I bought these shoes prior to a camping trip so I could have a non-slip on, closed toed shoe. I have wide feet and recently had bunion surgeries and they feel roomy and comfy for me. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a wider toe box. They are barefoot shoes so there is hardly any cushion. I expected to wear them on my trip occasionally but have ended up wearing everyday for a whole week. For sizing, I am a true 6.5 and the 6.5 fit great. Additionally, they felt a wee bit tight around my bunion area initially but loosened up as I wore them. For color, I got Green Gum. ... show more

  • These shoes almost fully fixed my foot problems alone.
Size: 6.5 Wide Color: W823 | Black Gum
I've had these shoes for 2 months Maybe now. I have dealt with foot problems corns and calluses on the bottom of my feet for ever. A little backstory is about every other week I need to take a razor blade and delicately carve out the calluses and corns from the bottom of my feet. I came across a commercial for these shoes that admitted that the first two weeks I wear these shoes I would be in pain because my feet would be readjusting to the ground. I was hesitant to buy them because my podiatrist (foot doctor) said that I need more supportive shoes . In the two months that I've worn these shoes I have nothing but good things to say about them I do have some negatives that I will mention at the bottom but all these positives have outweighed those minute negatives. (I don't remember if the commercial is saw was for these shoes exactly or just for pros of switching to barefoot shoes) The first two weeks I was in the shoes was exactly like what the commercial said was happened. (But I wasn't in severe pain, because I was in severe pain all the time from walking on this corn on the bottom of my foot). So after closing in on the second week I noticed that the corn on the bottom of the center of my foot was almost COMPLETELY gone. These shoes are very comfortable to walk in. They are wide enough for my crooked toe. I LOVE THE PADDED BACK so my ankles don't get raw. The color has held up in the rain. Pretty easy to keep clean (so far.. I haven't spilled anything sticky on me yet) The negative is that I feel like I might need to replace the shoes a lot sooner than my older pairs of shoes but I now wear these shoes more than any other shoes that I own so that could be a contributing factor. I would gladly buy these shoes again if they were to fall apart. The second negative might be more or less because they are high-tops or mid-tops I have to unlace part of my shoe to get my foot in. And only in is the problem getting out I can slide them out no problem. I even bought a second pair of these shoes for a slip-on pair that I could just run outside real quick in, they are good too but these, these are AMAZING. I do still have the "root" of the corn on the bottom of my foot, so I still need to maintain that area until it grows out I assume. But I can say these shoes almost SOLEY fixed my foot problems. Haha get it lol Ok im done now 😅 ... show more

  • Great Shoe, NOT Nonslip
Size: 8 Wide Color: W823 | All Black
After almost 2 weeks of constant wear, I am happy with my purchase but have a few critiques. At roughly $50, these are a great introductory to barefoot shoes. My toes are very happy with the extra space, but the lack of cushioning is bothersome after 5 to 6 hours of mostly standing on hard floors. But my feet are still adjusting after 20 years of wearing regular shoes and crocs. On the days I get to sit on/off or spent more time outside on grass or surfaces with more cushioning, I can get through a 10 hour shift no problem. My two biggest complaints are 1) the lack of heel tab. This might only be an issue due to being more high top-esque, but I struggle to get my heel in and a heel tab would help. 2) These are NOT non slip despite the rubber outsoles. This is mostly an issue when I walk on smooth tile. The crevasses aren’t deep/thick enough and I end up slipping on water or slightly oiled surfaces. I understand a lot of these are trade offs for having barefoot shoes, but it’s good to be aware of them. ... show more

  • Comfy but clownish
Size: 9 Wide Color: W823 | All Black
These shoes were fine. I love a barefoot feeling, but I had to return them because they felt a little clownish on me. The toebox was super wide, super roomy, which I love, but it was almost excessive. I definitely got the right size for my feet, but they still felt almost floppy on the sides of my toes. The length and width fit perfectly. ... show more

  • Teen daughter loves them!
Size: 6.5 Wide Color: W823 | Purple
My kids made fun of me when I started wearing Whitins a few years ago, now the whole family is hooked from 7-40 yrs old. My daughter loves high tops but her feet are wide (we are a mostly barefoot family) and her instep is high so she could never fit in the popular brands with super narrow toe boxes that everyone wears. I bought her these for Easter and she LOVES them. Purple matches nothing so it goes with everything! The shoes are top quality, super lightweight and flexible, comfortable, and built to last. They are super easy for her to get on and off, unlike most other high tops. At a fraction of the price of popular brands, these are an excellent value for the cost. The tread on the bottom is grippy enough for everyday use but haven’t tried them in rain or anything although being canvas, that wouldn’t be a top choice anyway. Highly recommend and they are super cute on- do not look like clown feet at all. We have multiple styles of kids and adult Whitins and we love them all. Buy them! Your feet will be soooo happy you did ... show more

  • Not worth the money or time
Size: 7 Wide Color: W823 | All Black
Totally not worth $50 I would have paid maybe $10 for these. I have been wanting to fix my feet and stretch them out more plus I love being barefoot so I got these for my every day work shoes. First- you can not go barefoot in them they will make your feet smell so you have to wear socks. They wash okay in the washer and dryer. But second I haven't even been wearing these for a couple of months and they have already begun to rip around the sides and toe part now I have to get new shoes. I'd love to buy another pair but with how expensive they are and cheaply made these are I will never buy another pair. Definitely do not recommend. Also they pick up dirt and fur like crazy so if you get the black pair be prepared to look dirty and dusty all the time ... show more

  • Finally, a shoe my feet don't mind (much)
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: W823 | All Black
I'd rather actually BE barefoot, but SO FAR, these are the best wide toe-box zero-drop BAREFOOT shoes I've found FOR ME. I wear shoes to protect my feet, including my soles - and not just the epidermis. I walk on rough ground with roots and rocks, and my feet have a lot of miles on them. Even on asphalt or concrete, I don't want my foot to land wrong on a pebble or piece of gravel and end up with a stone bruise. And honestly, even if I don't run, my soles begin to ache if I've been on my feet all day. So, while I do appreciate their flexibility I do NOT actually want barefoot shoes. If I did, I would wear sandals. But right now, barefoot shoes are the only ones with the OTHER features I need, features I have always wanted. I need a natural foot shape (wide toe-box) in a wide width. I need zero-drop, having worn flip flops, sandals, moccasins, or gone barefoot most of my life ... and for another reason. I also need a high instep (NOT a high arch; these are two different things), and since no manufacturer - yet - acknowledges that feet have three dimensions, not two, I'm often restricted to lace ups. So, I need a bigger size for the wider width and roomier toe box, but also to accommodate that high instep (aka high volume) foot. The shaft of boots helps keep my feet from sliding forward and scrunching my toes. I have never been able to tolerate high heels. ANY raised heel puts pressure on my toes. (I would probably prefer boots even if the length were right, because on shoes that come up high in the back - like sneakers - the part that tapers in either digs into the back of my ankle or makes a high blister on the back of my heel.) I agree with the manufacturer who says shoes only need to cradle our feet. not constrain them. So, I do wish these shoes were a little taller up and down, including the toe box. Still, I was able to squeeze one pair of insoles in to add cushioning (expensive flat ones by Perserveranx, which work much better than two layers of the thin ones that flatten out fast, the 3 pairs/$6 in the yellow cellophane). I buy insoles in the biggest size available; otherwise, I don't think they would fill up the wide toe-box. Even though I knew it wasn't possible, I told my friend I wanted to find a cobbler who could put a croslite sole on these. He laughed out loud and said, "What, are you from the 18th century?" Okay, shoe repair. After extensive wear, the tongue got a little fluffy, soI had to run the laces through the keeper loop at a higher point. Otherwise, the tongue would gradually slide down and bunch up at the bottom. Lacing them a little tighter than I had been also helped. I prefer canvas to the knit versions for aesthetic reasons (if it is not cotton, it at least appears to be, and to my eye, knit shoes look too much like polyester sweaters), because it has two ventilation holes (exactly where they are needed, which works better than a "breathable" knit), and because my buddy's claws don't snag them. Granted, the fabric is a fur magnet, and it really stands out against black, but I'm very used to dealing with that. I am quite pleased with the generous lace length. I bought Jackshibos and Nursgrams and sent them back. I thought the soles might be more cushioned because they look thicker. But one pair felt like I was standing a grid attached to a stiff rim. The heel of the other pair seemed like different - or perhaps "thickened" - material, and the transition was very noticeable. With both, it was immediately obvious. Except for a pair of Altas, whose contoured insole's arch hit me in the wrong place, among other things, I haven't tried more expensive zero-drops because their cousins in similar brands didn't seem very promising. But as for "minimalist" shoes, well, they should come at a minimalist price. I did buy a pair of Whitin running shoes and went for the men's version because another reviewer suggested the soles might be more cushioned. The smallest men's size is 8/41, comparable to a women's 9.5/41. (I have these booties in 9 and 9.5 because my feet swell sometimes, though in better brands of sandals, I wear 8.5 or sometimes 8.) The men's running shoes are a little wider, and they have a bigger footprint, but the insoles are almost exactly the same size. Also, their insoles are a tiny bit thicker at the front. The men's shoes are a little big, but for the extra cushioning, I'm willing to try them with thicker socks In the photos, I show both these and the running shoes. ... show more
