  • Surprising Quality, Comfort & Style Surprising Quality, Comfort & Style
Size: 9-9.5 Color: W63 | Taupe
TLDR: I recommend this brand for everyday use! Using their size guide we actually got shoes that fit the first time around! If you’ve ever bought shoes online before, especially for kids AND considering European sizes, that’s a small miracle. We mostly wear them barefoot (without socks), I had a small period of adjusting my outside toe to that as expected (photographed) but now I can with ease, and if I choose a low sock the fit/wear is just as pleasant, no sliding down on the back of heel, there’s actually small cushions on the inside of the shoe I tried to picture. They’re so comfortable. I never tie or untie these, I slide on and off each wear, the sock fit is a very nice feature for me here. I included photos comparing to crocs, vivos, and hey dudes but those all have pretty wide toe boxes. My girls, ages 5&2 loved them from the get—sparkly and beautiful, and not in a ‘in your face pink glitter for a girl’ color, they can go with or without socks (never experiencing a blister) AND they can take them on and off without help. Which holds a lot of weight for most moms. Speaking of weight, they’re very light. They don’t feel blocky or sound like my kids are having a hard time wearing them, even with the wider toe box which is my favorite part and is likely why the fit is so comfortable for all of us. Most US made adult tennis shoes have tight toe boxes where these do not, without compromising look/style. I love the tannish beige, I accepted they wouldn’t stay ‘clean’ forever but I don’t regret my choice. They match with everything and I can wear them with every kind of bottom except skinny jeans as I just personally don’t like the look of tight jeans with a tennis shoe but I’ll wear leggings, sweats, joggers and shorts with them. Lastly, Kids’ tend to show the quality of a shoe/brand pretty quickly. These have held up well as being our main shoe since summer 2024—parks, outside play, coaching volleyball and still nice enough for church. Current (Dec 2024) photos showing wear included. ... show more

  • Second pair Second pair
Size: 6.5-7 Color: W63 | Jet Black
This is my second pair of whitins. The other pair was a different style. It is a little more hybrid barefoot, while this one is more barefoot. The toe box in this one is less wide, but there is plenty of room for my toes to move and groove. There is less padding in this new pair. You can see that the other shoe (the one on the right) has more structure to it than this one. I like both pairs. I use these for doing cardio workouts. I am going to put the first pair in my yoga bag that I take with me when I travel. This way I don't have to worry about making sure I have everything I need to get my workouts in. It is all in the bag, ready to go. When I come home, I wash/clean anything that needs it and pack it back into the bag for the next time. As for the new pair, they'll be my daily workout shoes. They are very light weight. I tried another much more expensive pair of barefoot shoes, but they weren't made of better materials and I actually liked the fit better on the whitins. That is why I am back for a second pair. I don't know how well they will hold up, but I have had the other pair a couple of months now, wear them daily and they are holding up fine. I love the black on black of the new pair. The old ones had white soles on a black shoe which I don't like as much. If you want to try some barefoot shoes, the whitins are a great place to start. If they don't work out for you, you won't be out a lot of money. A barefoot shoe has a zero drop, meaning that it is flat from front to back rather than having a higher heel area and then dropping lower in the front of the shoe. This is a good thing. It makes your foot strike the ground more in the center of the foot instead of right on the heel - more as you would normally walk barefoot. This is better for your knees and hips and your posture in general. It also has a wider toe box, giving your toes room to move, letting you naturally work the muscles in your feet and legs. They have little to no cushioning or arch support inside... again to make your feet do the work. Barefoot shoes aren't for everyone though. Do your research! If you are used to wearing shoes with a large drop and a lot of extra cushioning inside, you may have to take it slow, and strengthen your feet some before you are able to wear this type of shoe. ... show more

  • Most favorite shoes!
Size: 8.5 Color: W63 | Black/Gum
These are my most favorite shoes of all time. I wear them everywhere! I suffered from pretty bad plantar fasciitis for years trying every shoe you could imagine. Nothing really worked. I also had surgery on my left meniscus so my gait is a little off which causes both knee and hip to ache and sometimes my ankle on the surgical side. My dad bought me a pair of barefoot Merrells because he had loved them. I tried them and fell in love, too. But I’m a girl and girls like shoes so while I loved my Merrells I definitely did not love their price point. Then I found WHITIN! These shoes have almost completely ended my plantar fasciitis pain. They are light, they are comfortable and I can’t live without them. They have almost completely ended my knee, hip, and ankle pain, too. Even more comfy than the Merrells. They line my leg up correctly and force me to walk like I should. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because the reflective threads on the pull tab still rub at one ankle. It’s only on one shoe but it’s irritating and it’s only the reflective threads the main tab threads are soft. I ended up cutting the reflective threads out. No biggie. Also, for some reason when I wear these for major walking - we’re talking extreme all day walking at Disneyland or on vacay exploring a city, I blister rubs on the ball of my foot behind my toes. I’ve never had that with any other shoe and it could be a fault in my anatomy or even my odd gait that causes it because it’s on that surgical side that has all the problems. That being said, it only happens when I’m doing extreme walking. Other than those minor problems, these are the best shoes I’ve ever owned and I wear them everywhere - even to church! (I need a solid white with a white sole made!!!) I made the mistake of wearing a different pair of shoes on our last vacation because I was afraid to get the blister on the ball of my foot. Those other shoes chewed my heels to pieces. Two huge and painful blister on each heel! Needless to say, I couldn’t wear those shoes again. Slipped my WHITIN’s on over the hydrocolloid blister bandages and never had a problem. My WHITIN’s didn’t rub or aggravate my blisters at all and I could walk normally for the remainder of the trip. They are awesome! I do have naturally narrow feet but these offer plenty of room for movements without looking like clown shoes. You can feel the road under your feet but I’ve never been bruised from rocks or anything else. The padding is sufficient. They wash well and still look great even after a year and a half of almost constant wear. I love them. I definitely recommend these to everyone! ... show more

  • These are the least ugly barefoot shoes that I could find, and I love it!
Size: 10 Color: W63 | Jet Black
I wanted a shoe that was barefoot, and not ugly. So far I've just found barefoot shoes that were ugly because of the shape, and their designs. These shoes, although not the most stylish, are not shaped oddly and definitely can fit my feet! These are a good neutral shoe, which is saying a lot! I know a few that I bought on amazon were hyped up to be really nice, but once I got them in the mail LOL YIKES!!!! They were the ugliest shoes ever like I was wearing some Mickey Mouse club house shoes omg. Whoever said those other shoes were nice needs some glasses and an eye exam, because I'm not out here trying to cosplay as Mickey. Anyways, about the shoes performance, I've had these shoes for a good few months? Maybe even 6 months idek. It feels like I've had them forever. They work well, and have a lot of space to insert foot supports too which is nice. They're also really nice to work out in especially when doing weights. I know it's an issue with people wanting to go barefoot when they do heavy lifting, but the gyms won't allow it. I think this shoe is a good way to get that barefoot feeling and doing weights. In terms of running in these, since I have foot issues that I'm still recovering from I can't say how they fare in hard core long distance running. I can imagine they're not going to be the best for that since it won't be able to absorb the impact from running as well as other shoes with more cushion? Regardless though, these are great shoes. I even wore them a lot when working my 12 hour shifts as a nurse. They're also really nice walking shoes, or just on the go shoes. Can't say anything more positive, absolutely love this shoe! ... show more

  • Plastic Parts Not Well Placed!
Size: 6.5-7 Color: W63 | Light Grey
These felt pretty good until I walked down stairs. The plastic part that goes over the instep (where the laces are threaded though) cuts into my ankle. The same effect occurs, in an even pronounced way, when I do a full squat. I do a lot of squatting, so this shoe is a non-starter for me. By the way, I'm about 5'1", 105 lbs, so it's not about having a chubby ankle. I might be more limber than average--like a deeper bend in my ankle than average? Other than that, where have such "barefoot" shoes been all my life? Exact concept I've been wanting for feeling the ground underfoot, especially in the woods. Whenever I look at senior citizens (of which I am one) wearing those clunky, thick soled shoes, I think, no wonder people are falling all the time, they are out of touch with the ground! ... show more

  • Comfortable, flexible, excellent price!
Size: 7.5-8 Color: W63 | Jet Black
I bought these for Tai Chi classes. They’ve been great; the shoes are comfortable and flexible. I tried three higher priced zero-drop shoe brands and did not find them to be superior. So I kept the WHITIN pair and pocketed the $80 price difference.

  • Size up… or Your Big Toe Might Bust A Hole
Size: 8.5 Color: W63 | Dark Grey
I ALWAYS wear an 8.5, and I’ve come to like minimalist shoes. These are the 5th pair I’ve purchased in two years — 3 or 4 of them from this brand, in different colors. They all felt a tad bit short, but were wearable with no discomfort. Snug like a glove. These are the same, a bit small but wearable. But, though they all fit snug and comfortable, my big toe broke through with two of the other minimalist shoes I bought. The 1st pair lasted for over a year. The 2nd pair lasted just two months before I noticed a little hole at my big toe. I’m not doing that again, so I’m returning these. These ones are cool looking though. I might purchase them one size up, but I’ve never worn a size 9-9.5… But maybe sizing up is something to do for minimalist, zero drop shoes, or at least with this brand… Edit one year later: I can now confirm that, yes, I must go up one size with minimalist/zero drop shoes. I’ve purchased two other pairs of this type of shoe since leaving my original review above, both one size up. One by this brand, the other another brand. They fit PERFECTLY. Not big looking or big feeling at all — and no more big toe holes! ... show more
