  • not a barefoot shoe, has arch support and elevated heel
Size: 10 Color: Brown ( Upgraded Insole )
not a barefoot shoe, has arch support in the construction of the shoe. the midsole area is very narrow, creating pressure on the arch area unless you have high arches. For those without high arches, it causes the foot to tip to the outside, unbalancing the stance and gait. Also the insole has elevated heel. Also there is no lateral support in the very soft uppers so shoe is ok for walking but not for any kind of lateral movement. very disappointing that whitin has no real barefoot shoes in their collection. ... show more

  • Surprisingly excellent
I had low expectations for a $30 online shoe purchase. This was also my first pair of minimalist shoes, and I have always purchased neutral gait, low drop running shoes in the past. I initially ordered my usual US women's size 9, but needed to go down to an 8. Return was easy and prompt through Amazon and UPS. These have held up very well for several weeks for both running (all speeds and surfaces) and lifting. Rather than standard tie laces, this shoe has a pinch slide (like on a windbreaker jacket hood), which I was not used to on a shoe. I much prefer it to regular laces, and it stays tight. The upper is adjustable to a variety of foot widths. Appearance is good; they don't look like the dorky finger shoes, and most people ask if they're climbing shoes. A lot of the exterior is a rubbery material which has been very easy to keep clean. A word of warning to first time minimalist users: break these in slowly. Do some research about how to transition from a traditional shoe to avoid injury or soreness. Update after 2.5 months: I've used these shoes daily for lifting and running 3-6 miles. They are beginning to tear in the cloth upper near the pinky toe area (where the lowest shoelace attachment pulls). This may be because I often use them for multidirectional agility work (twisting, cutting, etc.). They are not ideal for planting and twisting since they are not as supportive as an athletic cleat. Traction remains great on the bottom, and an unexpected bonus is that they are flat for lifting. ... show more

  • Great right out of the box
Size: 13 Color: All Black
I have big wide feet with a half a size difference between them so finding shoes online is difficult without the trying on. For example At XMass I was in the hunt for boots and It took ordering seven pairs to get two. Thanx Amazon for free returns. So when I order a pair of shoes and they go on without a hitch and fit like they were made for my feet as well as wear them for hours immediately with no issues, my soul smiles. They are true to size as well as wide, and comfortable with or without socks. The only reason I put a 4 for support is because they are a moccasin/bare foot like feel with high bend ability. Therefore you naturally loose just a bit in the support department Great shoe I wil be ordering more ... show more

  • Decent "barefoot" shoe if you take out the insert
Size: 10 Color: Brown ( Blended )
For the price, these are a bargain. Yes, there are better minimalist "barefoot" shoes out there, but not much below $120. IF (and only if) you take out the insoles these are decent, and the "blended brown" is acceptable for work environments. Note on sizing: WITH the inserts in them, they are sized about right. But when I took the insert out, it is a bit too large so consider if you want cushion (leave it in, sizing is OK), or take it out (sizing is too large). Note that these are not super wide; more of a "regular" so people with super wide feet may not like them. I have wide-ish feet, and thought they were fine. If/when I wear these out, I will buy another pair. Best barefoot bargain out there that doesn't look totally weird. ... show more

  • Some awful stylish simulator racing shoes.
I ordered my actual size, removed the liners and they fit just right. They fit fine with the insoles too. I use them to drive in a auto racing simulator and they give my feet good feel of the pedals best without the insoles. They breathe well and don’t seem to stink up easily so far. I tend to run hot and get restless irritable legs and feet when I get too warm so they are great for that. I’m sure they would be fine for running if you’re looking for a barefoot experience with minimal protection. They would also be at home on the beach or river front. The soles really do have holes to drain and they have zero sole support so don’t expect these to be tennis shoes. I tend to walk around on the toes and balls of my feet like a hunter so they feel good for me personally. My feet are average width for my size of 11, they may not feel good for those with wide feet. ... show more

  • My new favorite pair of casual sneakers
I've had these shoes for about a month now and I've worn them 2-3 times per week for work. I love these shoes. I prefer a zero drop or flat sole on my shoes for casual wear and these have been great. I require minor or minimal support I that's how I would qualify this shoe. It looks nice, it's light weight, breathes well, and the toe area is wide while still providing lateral support. I don't know that I would recommend these for rocky or uneven terrain, but for casual wear and light to intermediate walking in an urban setting....I think they're great. The quality after a month seems to be good and there were no defects in the construction that I could detect. For the price I don't think you can beat these shoes. I've been very happy with them. ... show more

  • especially great for old people
Size: 13 Color: Brown ( Blended )
these are great shoes. i never bought shoes online before but took a chance because Converse are not as good as they were and Skechers are the worse thing i've seen in footwear. i spent a couple years balancing on that inch thick cushion on Skechers. i'm 64 and i thought i was losing my balance. you never suspect the shoes. i bought a pair of these in brown and wore them for seven days. in the meantime, i ordered a pair in black. they arrived today so i switched. the wide tow low heel design reminds me of the Kelso earth shoes back in the 70s. they are even more comfortable than my bedroom slippers. i tried them barefoot for a minute just to see how it felt but they fell ok with sweat socks. i might get one more color to rotate. i hope they wear well. made in China but so are Chucks. i give them 5 stars unless they wear out fast. ... show more
