Work well for me. Sheer enough to let light in while providing privacy. Yes, you can see through them, you can see there is a person, but not sheer enough to see what they are (or are not) wearing. I would not recommend them for a street side window with pedestrian traffic but they are perfect for my rural house where I just need a little privacy. I have the blue, ivory and green.
