Description

What does God want? Sounds like a simple question, but if you give it a bit of thought, it’s really not. For starters, you have to know who’s asking the question. People will ask it for a lot of different reasons. It’s pretty obvious that the question is a religious one. Questions about God naturally get filed in that folder. If you’ve spent a lot of your life in church, you might think you already know the answer. You might know parts of it, but I can guarantee you’ll see a lot that’s new here. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill “Christianity 101” book. Unfortunately, the thing that most often gets in the way of the wonder of the story is religion, and that isn’t what this book offers. And if you’ve never been in a church or heard much about the Bible, don’t worry. You’ve got nothing to unlearn or re-learn. It’s all fresh. That makes you an ideal reader. So what does God want? Best-selling author, Dr. Michael S. Heiser, shows readers that the answer is pretty simple. God wants YOU. That might surprise you. You may doubt it. That’s okay. But it’s the right answer. But it isn’t enough of an answer. You can’t get a sense of how amazing and profound the answer is by just that one sentence. There’s actually a long, remarkable story behind the answer—one that isn’t well known by most people interested in the question. Read more

Format: Paperback
The book What Does God Want? by Michael Heiser is a simple but powerful book that helps us understand what God’s real desire is for people. It’s not a book full of complicated theology or hard words—it’s about relationship. Heiser reminds us that from the very beginning, God has wanted a family. He wants to be in relationship with us, not just as servants or followers, but as sons and daughters who share in His purpose. One of the things I really appreciate about this book is how clear it is. Heiser explains that God’s plan has always been about bringing people back to Himself. Sin separated us, but through Jesus, that relationship is restored. He points out that salvation isn’t just about getting to heaven one day—it’s about walking with God right now, living with Him, and representing His kingdom on earth. Heiser also helps readers see that God’s will isn’t complicated. We often spend our lives wondering, “What does God want me to do?” But the truth is, God first wants us to know Him. When we walk in relationship with Him, everything else falls into place. It’s not about a list of religious duties—it’s about love, trust, and obedience that comes from the heart. I like how Heiser connects the story of the Bible together. He shows how God’s heart for His people never changed—from Adam and Eve, to Israel, to the church today. God has always wanted people who would reflect His image and share His love with the world. In the end, this book points us back to the simplicity of the gospel: God loves us, He wants us to be part of His family, and He wants to work through us to reach others. That’s what God wants. If you’re looking for a book that reminds you of what really matters in your walk with God, this is it. It’s simple, truthful, and full of grace. It helps you see that God’s greatest desire isn’t about religion—it’s about relationship. ... show more

  • Excellent for New Believers & Old Alike
Format: Paperback
This is an excellent book! My husband is really into all of Michael Heiser’s books so I bought them all for him. I read this one myself since I saw it lying around and have been wanting to learn more about who God is. It talks about how we are God’s family members and how that all came to be. I would highly recommend for someone who wants to understand their identity in the family of Christ or just know more about the Bible. He explains it well and from the point of view that new Christians are reading the book and want to learn about it for the first time. Although I think it is great for even long-time Christians as well. Great book!! ... show more

  • Primer on the basics of Christian life
Format: Kindle
This book gives an overview of the Bible in practical and comprehensible terms. It tells the big picture story including parts that are confusing and difficult to piece together. The book additionally illuminates the spiritual beings who co-inhabit creation with us.(There have always been spots about this subject in the Bible I skip over because they make no sense to me. This book addresses many of those foggy parts.) It also helps us comprehend the fullness of God’s creation and being made in God’s image. (We should understand God’s design and principles in order to live fully and abundantly.) It teaches us what life as a believer entails and hammers home the rock solid truth of God’s love for us. ... show more
